I agree with all the answers you got here.
You just have to find the path right for you, and your family.

But there is something very important.
And that is to take care of yourself.
Take time to yourself. Just beeing you!

You have to take good care of yourself (loving yourself)
before you can take care of others..
(without going insane!)

We have a little family of three: DH, Me, & DD, who is seven. It was much easier to keep a clean house before DD was born! I never knew one extra person could cause so much dirty laundry & dishes.

I say that I do what I can & if you have a problem with it, then you help! I do laundry, dishes, & ironing almost every day. I try to keep things picked up off the floor & at least in stacks, ready to go to the room they should be in. I'm up at 6 a.m., even on weekends, to do a lot of things while the other two are asleep. I can get more done that way! On Saturday I clean the floors & on Sunday I iron until they wake up.

DD's room is a horrible mess, and I usually just let that go. However, there comes a point when I can't stand it anymore & we do "10 second tidy", where I set the time for 10-15 minutes & we clean her room. I make her put things in their place (all similar toys have their own bins), & I'm usually putting away clothes & shoes in her closet while we do this. When the timer goes off, there are still things in the floor & on her bed, but it does look a little better.

I dread the teenage years and the attitude that comes with it, but I am enjoying who she is now. Since turning seven, she seems to be maturing a little. I just take one day at a time, answering all of her questions that I can, & trying to see that she lives up to her full potential. I don't want to hold her back & baby her, so I'm trying to show her that she can be independant do some things for herself.

If she would just learn to tie her shoes...

My kids are 6 and 4 months. Some days I feel like SuperMom, other days I want to pull my hair out. I've learned that its ok to drop the housework sometimes and order takeout. My kids aren't going to grow up and remember if I had mopped the floor enough, they'll remember if I took the time to play with them, read a book, take them swimming...being a parent is the hardest job in the world but it's also the most rewarding. My advice to anyone would be to take it one day at a time, don't sweat the small stuff and make time for you.
After all, we were women before we became Moms, it's ok to take care of ourselves too! And I remind myself that being a parent is a learning process. It doesn't matter if your kids are 5 or 25, we're all just learning as we go.

Oh well, that's my two cents anyway. Good luck!

Routine and sticking to it
I just started homeschooling last year and so that has been a BIG adjustment. Had a baby in December and then just found out we are expecting #7 in the spring

My kids are both grown and graduated from college. Looking back, I sometimes said the heck with little things that had to be taken care of in the house and took the kids out to play, read to them, play games and more. It was more fun that way and they still have fond memories of what we did. They never looked back and said, "wow mom, you washed dishes or did laundry" Ha ha! They remember the fun stuff we did and the good times we had. I just didn't put a lot of pressure on myself. Don't get me wrong! I know responsibilities must be done and of course anything to do with the well being of your children (feeding them, keeping them clean, healthy, etc). Occasionally it's okay to let the little things go and enjoy life! You will feel better and so will your children.

Good luck and hope things work out for you!!!
This is sound advice. It's definitely not an easy job, but it is the most rewarding thing I've ever done with my life. I wouldn't trade one moment with my children for anything

We raised 3 children and each one had to be dealt with differently. We laughed, we cried, we preached, we were their example and now that they are grown, I see that us being an example had a great impact on them as adults.
Our kids are loving parents, very patriotic, strong work ethics and try to be fair with their children when there is a need for discipline.
Taking time to enforce little things also has brought great rewards. Can't just check out when parenting but also good to chose your battles.
