Well, according to 100,000 Watts, we're up to 8 stations nationwide that have switched over to Christmas music. I actually thought there would've been a bit more. Now that Nov. 1st is here, I expect the number of stations to skyrocket over the next few days.

I noticed one of the stations is in Cape May, NJ. I think WEZW is an early Christmas station in past years.

I wonder, though, if Sandy influenced their switch this year? Seems as WEZW would be airing civic programming for recovery. I'll hit the listen online link once I find time.

Sent from the vast wasteland of my mind.

Hmm, you may be right: radio stations on the east coast are probably too busy dealing with Sandy. Though you would think Sandy would increase the number of stations switching over. I know four years ago, after a bad year for the economy in our region, one of the local radio stations flipped over to holiday music a few days BEFORE Halloween.

The DJ's and advertisements on this radio station said that they were switching over because the whole region needed an early dose of holiday cheer, to get our minds off the bad economy. I appreciated the idea.

As for radio stations on the east coast, as more power is restored over the next few days, there may be plenty of radio stations switching over, in an effort to brighten the spirits of their listeners.

Both of Columbus, Ohio's 24/7 Christmas stations, 93.3 WODC and 94.7 WSNY reference Christmas music coming soon on their websites, but nothing as of yet. WSNY runs two separate streaming music feeds online right now, one streaming their usual soft rock and one with just Christmas.

100 Thou Watts is going crazy! I know I saw the list up to fifteen stations earlier today. We already saw it at eight. Right now there are only five stations!

Maybe we need to do a daily copy and paste in this thread.
