I am so sorry for your loss. I can't imagine the pain you and your family must be feeling right now. I can only suggest that you do what feels right and natural to you. Your family just experienced a very serious tragedy, so it's OK if things don't feel "normal" to you, even at Christmas time. It will take some time and prayer to heal to a point where you all feel comfortable with doing certain things or even celebrating holidays/birthdays/anniversaries because he's not there, but that's normal, and I don't think you should beat yourself up because of it. Just give yourself time to grieve and do what feels right for you and your family. I'm praying for you all.

Good! I hope they can help you heal, even if it's only in some small way!

Holiday, I got the books the other day, started reading the one last night. Makes a lot of sense. I read some to my husband, we talked about some of it on the way into work this morning. He said he's going to read a little of it tonight too. *** Regarding the Holidays, we know it will be hard. My husband had said he just wanted to crawl in a hole and cover up. Thankfully, someone he works with told him that would not be fair to the 3 children we still have (even if they are 23, 22 & 13 - not to mention me! I need Christmas too), and that made him think a little differently. I told him I know it will be different, for all of us, and we'll do some of the same things, some we may not do, and maybe we'll add something new. Well, last night his X-mother-in-law called, (a little background, our last name is Grover - big surprise. My stepson was always fascinated with the Sesame Street Grover, especially Super Grover. This summer he got a tatoo, sort of like the Super Man Emblem, but with a G, and flames coming out. My husband said at the time he might get one too. Well, after he died, my husband went out and got one. My son got a similar one, without the flames, my other stepson got a lovely cross with the G emblem in the center, and I got the emblem with roses on either side. My one and only tatoo, that was never on my bucket list!), so, they decided they are going to get t-shirts with that tatoo screen printed on, and wear them for Thanksgiving and Christmas. We thought that was a great idea, so we're going to get them too. So, he'll be there with us through those shirts. I think that will help us all a little bit. We will also be decorating his grave for the Holidays.

Awe Sandy! That is such a neat idea. He will be there with you no matter what, but very cool that you will all be wearing the T-shirt! It will be a hard Holiday season for you all! I'm glad your hubby's co-worker reminded him about the other kids & you! Somehow, life has to go on. You made me chuckle when you said a tatoo wasn't on your bucket list! I'll continue to keep you in my thoughts & prayers!
