Question: Why is Rudolph's nose red?
From Meg Y, age 7, we get this question which comes in from a lot of kids:
Why is Rudolph's nose red?
Rudolph was born with a red nose. There is no reason why...he's just different than MOST of the other reindeer.
Of course, we have other reindeer with other differences, too. For example, Jasmine was born all pink. She has the softest pink fur. Very pretty. She is the only pink reindeer we have at the North Pole.
We have another reindeer named Jingles. He was born with a bad leg. Poor thing has a hard time walking. But every reindeer has a job, including Jingles. He works with Santa all the time. Santa takes him to meet kids sometimes who have bad legs, too. Jingles shows these kids that even though he has a bad leg he can still do things and be useful and help other people (and reindeer). Jingles, unlike most reindeer, speaks 17 languages. Most reindeer only know the reindeer language. Jingles is very smart.
Rudolph is very happy with his red nose. He likes being different from the other reindeer.
