I don't think this was unexpected but it is notable nonetheless. Regardless of what you think about her politics Margaret Thatcher was a trail-blazing woman, a stalwart example of strength. RIP.

Margaret Thatcher certainly was a very strong woman who generated a lot of strong feeling about her. Greatly respected in the world but also greatly disliked by certain factions in her own country

Seemingly she will not have a state funeral but will be accorded the same status as Princess Diana and the Queen Mother. That won't go down well with the tax-payers at large

Got to say, I don't think she ranked in those circles..........
