My name is Tony, I am 24 years old and currently live in New York, NY. Im originally from Baltimore, Maryland. Recently this year has been a roller coaster ride for me and my family. The year started off good, but as the year progressed, it became stressful. In March, my dog Simba (best friend and brother) of 13 years passed away of Cancer. He was very sick and was on his last days. I was able too see him before he passed, but it was still very hard coping with his death being that he was my first pet. My parents got him for me when I was 10 years old so it was definitely hard letting him go. Its going to be the first Christmas without him this year so I am trying hard too move on, but I probably never will. Then over this past summer, both of my Grandmothers (Great Grandma and Grandma) both became severely ill. My Great Grandmother is in the Nursing Home. She has Colon Cancer My grandmother had a health scare and was rushed too the hospital with chest pains. She is a smoker and I hope that it is not catching up with her. The fear of losing both of my grandmothers is frightening me. I already lost my dog and too lose both of my grandmothers or even just one of them will break me. The doctor said prepare for my great grandmothers last days 😭 On top of all the family stress going on in my hometown of Baltimore, I am currently in NYC working everyday and stressed. I have been out of school for over a year now because I owe my school $2500.00 and they will not let me return back until I pay them the money. I work in retail and my parents cannot give me the money, so I do not know when I can return back too school. The stress of my family, school problems and work problems are getting to me you guys. To make things even more complicated, my job will not let me request extra time off during the holidays this year making it difficult for me too see my grandmas during the holidays. I just wanted the day after Thanksgiving off and 1 week off for Christmas and they are not letting me request off because of it being busy shopping days. I swear I am about too just give up. I dont know what to do. I dont know how my life came too this. Please give advice and help! 😭😭😭 Thanks.

yes, life can get rough sometimes. Always hard to loose a long time pet.
Your grandmas sound like they had long and wonderful lives. You are so blessed to have had them in your life. Saying good bye to those who had such an impact on your life is difficult. Remember the wonderful things about them and enjoy what time you may still have with them. If you cannot get together with them as much as you would like then call and send cards. No one knows what the future will bring. Loosing them will not break you, just make you sad for a season.
As for time off, see if your boss would agree to some time after the Christmas rush is over. I know you would like to be there at Christmas but sometimes we have to adjust things to fit into what works. We have had many Christmas celebrations before and after the actual day and had just as much fun as if it was actually on Christmas day.
There's so much in life we can not control and every pet I've had was a family member whose loss was very sad. If your work/living situation allows it maybe you should think about adopting a dog. You are obviously one of us animal lovers and if you could take a pet from one of the many rescue programs it may offset some of the negatives that life has currently handed you. Life goes on and things will eventually improve for you. Just hang in there.

I'm so sorry to hear about your rough year! I'll be sending up prayers that things start looking up for you & for your Grandma's! Watching your pet get weak or losing a pet is by far the worst part of being a pet owner! Hang in there! Keeping you in thoughts & prayers!
Christmas is not a time nor a season, but a state of mind. To cherish peace & goodwill, to be plenteous in mercy, is to have the real spirit of Christmas.

I am sorry you are having a tough time right now, you and your family are in my thoughts.
Never Give Up!!!!
It may be tough to work on the and around the holidays, a number of years ago I worked at a business where I was required to work on Thanksgiving and both Christmas Eve & Day. It was probably the worst holiday seasons of my life, but I had to do it because that is what my job was at the time. It just makes you understand how much the holidays mean to you, and how much you love your family. I know it will be hard this year, but as soon as you can, if it is the first week of January take a trip home and celebrate Christmas that week. Christmas is but a date on the calendar, Christmas can be celebrated any day you want. Set up your tree, watch your Christmas shows and movies, listen to the music. Make the most of this situation. We will be here to help you celebrate, use us to help make your Christmas season a little merrier, there are a lot of great people here.
Never Give Up!!!!!

So sorry for your loss and that you're going through such a difficult time. I can understand you wanting to be with your family during the holidays. I am in a little bit of a different situation than you - I at least still get to see my family during the holidays, but may still have to work the majority of it and may not get to see all of my family and travel, depending on my work schedule, so I understand.
As Xmas said, do your normal routine and join in here. We always celebrate, as a family and we will make you feel right at home!
