Versions of Christmas Carol

How many versions of Christmas Carol do you own?

I've got six or more including cartoon versions, too many to watch in one Chriatmas season. I rotate them.

I love the story and while some versions are obviously better than others, each one has its own assets.

I even like it when TV show do mini adaptations. The Jeffersons is a favorite from my childhood.

Goodness, let's see---For movies, Alastair Sim, Seymour Hicks (silent and sound), Reginald Owen, George C. Scott, the Muppets, Mr. Magoo---I think that's all. Seven movie versions.

Unabridged audiobooks: Tom Baker, Geoffrey Palmer, Jonathan Winters, Jim Dale. Four.

And two editions of the annotated book!

I'll have to find the audio version by Jim Dale. I enjoyed his work on the Harry Potter audio books.

American Christmas Carol, set during the Great Depression, is a pretty good version. it was made for TV so production values aren't as nice as some big screen treatments.

HBO had Rich Little's Christmas Carol that I saw as a kid. Would love to watch it again.

The only version I own is the one with Alistair Sim, since that is my favorite.

It's very good---only Tom Baker's is better. Baker sounds like he's really enjoying himself as he reads!

Bill Murray, Susan Lucci, Seymour Hicks, George C. Scott, Kelsey Grammar, Jim Carey, Magoo, Muppets, Mickey Mouse, and The Flintstones. There are two others on my list, but I don't recall who is in them. I also have the Patrick Stewart one man show on cassette tape.

One of my many hobbies, is collecting Christmas movies and specials. Currently, the collection is over 1.5 TB in size. When I find a film I don't have, it's converted to digital and moved onto, what I call, the 'holiday drive'.

Of course, my favorite part of the collection, are all the various versions of 'A Christmas Carol'. I'm guessing now, but I must have over 25 different versions, including both TV and film adaptations. And I'm always finding more.

Every year, I promise myself, I'm going to watch each and every one. Well, I can't honestly say I have. But I do have a great time trying.

You, my friend, are an inspiration. That's totally something I would do. In fact, why haven't I thought of doing this?
