Awesome Annette!! I think this year we are going to take it a step further with this idea:

We are going to take brown paper lunch bags and fill them with non-perishable snacks, a Christmas card and other little dollar store goodies and drive around town to pass them out to homeless people. They will appreciate the food and someone remembering them at Christmas.

It's a lonely existence even if it's their choice!

Diana..
That is a wonderful idea. I am fortunate to live in a community where being homeless does not really exist. I mean now and again we may have a homeless person pass through but they do not stick around long before they are off to the next town. And we have given a few canned goods when we do come across these individuals.

Annette ~ being in the Orlando, Florida area...there are a lot! Since we have a bearable climate all year, they seem to gravitate to our area more than many others.

My children and I go down to the Coalition for the Homeless (homeless shelter) on the second Thursday of every month to feed them. I want to teach my children by example to give and not always get or want!

We live in a very "gimme" society and I feel it's my duty as a parent to teach the other side!

Plus, my kids LOVE doing it!!

I give to the ABW here in Rochester & fill a cart up for the mothers & there children that are in the shelter.I know how hard it is for them to be there especially at this time of year. There is also a little boy I watch everyonce & awhile with a single mom so I'll buy for him this year. We try to do as much as we can for others durning this time but to be honest we do it all year round.
