Smemorina: Since we also celebrate Italian tradition here along with our annual turkey feast I always prepare pasta and sauce for hubby and my son-in-law who is also Italian. If I did not have a pot of sauce cooking it would not be complete for everyone.
One is therefore!! Then a lot depends from which part of Italy alive ones, I am of the north and we do not have the same traditions that they have in the south!

on my mothers side of the family.. we usually have a buffet style meal with turkey and ham along with mashed potatos, creamed stringbeans..etc.
on my fathers side of the family which is italian.. sicilian to be technical and they have a complete different selection. there we have a lot of shell fish (such as muscles, shrimp, crab and lobster ) and pasta dishes to choose from.
both meals are yummy to me so i'm happy at either place! lol
Turkey. It isn't Christmas Eve if I can't smell the turkey cooking.
My Mum told me she's not cooking one this year, and will just heat up some turkey breasts. I'm rebelling, and buying a turkey. It just wouldn't be right without one!
Spiral sliced ham from one of those specialty ham shops. There's enough to do even if we don't cook the ham ourselves. Listen to me, as if I had anything to do with it! 8) The closest I have come to cooking is helping deep fry turkeys at work.
