Elf Shortage at the Reindeer Games

Elf Bernard reported again today more call-ins from elves who were too ill to come to work. Matching his concerns was a new report from Elf Victor over in Santa's Stables that he did not have enough elves to run the reindeer games today and the altitude speed trials had to be cancelled.

I spoke earlier today with Elf Dr. Lionel P. Spock about the rash of sick elves. He said it looks like the Bah Humbug virus may have returned to the North Pole. The Bah Humbug Bug, as we call it here, is a flu-like sickness that saps the Christmas spirit. Not only do you feel like you have a cold but you just don't want anything to do with Christmas trees, mistletoe, Santa Claus or giving gifts. It is, as you might imagine, a terrible sickness for anyone to get.

Mrs. Claus is taking no chances. She has asked the families of the elves who are sick to stay home in a quarantine situation until it can be determined what is causing the outbreak. Some elves have requested to get sleeping quarters at the Workshop so they do not risk getting sick by going home each day.

Most importantly, Mrs. Claus has isolated Santa, allowing him to see the Workshop only by webcam and speaking to folks here only on the telephone.

We will keep you posted on what is going on.
