I agree about comparing notes DVD Guy!!! I've been buying the versions, one by one and then keeping the ones I'd like to watch again and reselling the others....I've got a few of them lined up to watch now...My favorite is still George C. Scott though...I like Allistair Sim but didin't love it...I'll keep you posted!!!

Which is the one with the Lockhart family in it? June Lockhart plays one of Cratchett's daughters and Gene Lockhart plays Scrooge's Nephew? I have that one, Seymor Hicks, George C. Scott, I think I have the Muppets that I taped off of the TV, I'd like to get the one with Henry Winklerm, and I remember a Christmas special with Marlo Thomas in it but she may have playing the George Bailey role in an "It's a Wonderful Life" take off...There seem to be many, many versions of A Christmas Carol though...I just found Allistair Sim to be a little over the top...Somewhat overacted...That was the style at the time that it was made...But George C. Scott was such a masterful actor...I'd watch anything he was in...

My favorite version is the Patrick Stewart version. I think it is the closest to the book. I especially like that it's the only version that shows Scrooge going to church on Christmas morning, which is in the book.
The Cratchet family is absolutely the best. Some versions actually had a fat Bob Cratchet. Impossible on the amount of food this family had to eat. Most accurate depiction hands down, although George C. Scott probably played the Scrooge part better.

My favorite is the Patrick Stewart especially after I heard or read somewhere that he did a "Christams carol" as a one man stage show. I also like Alstiair Sim and I thought "Scrooged" was a great update. I believe that they are doing a new version of it with Jim Carrey and in the same digital format as Polar Express.
