This thread has really helped me, things are much more different now than when I was a child and I feel I have been clinging to the past just a little too much. Trying to keep things the way they were. Now I can realize that it's time for me to create things of my own, not just try to recreate my childhood.
I will keep a few things but create new ones instead of driving everyone crazy
I love creating new traditions and taking old ones from my family and my hubbys putting the two together were the south meets the north is alotta fun,his cajun style and my boston style are a sight to see!
I want to do my part to make Christmas wonderful -- and then be open to whatever happens! (Part of making Christmas wonderful for me happens today, sharing ideas and good cheer with people here!) I will decorate and listen to beautiful Christmas music and bake and share goodies. I will watch Christmas movies and look at beautiful lights and... lots of good things.
I have such a hard time with my stepchildren, they go out of their way to make me and my children feel so unwelcomed.. but its just one night, so we forgo what we want to do on christmas eve and spend time with the grandkids who I adore
Last year my dh being sensitive to whats going on plus the fact that my parents moved to texas and offered to send tickets so we could visit decided we should go but come back early afternoon so we could still see the stepchildren, seemed to work out okay but I think just a bit tooo much traveling
Hope things work out okay for you this year, let us know what you decide to plan
Things are forever changing, so its nice to start your own family traditions... we have to pass these on to our own children Im sure you and your family will have a very nice one indeed
We have had to make our own as well as the years went by
