My Dog Sam
Dear Abby, I too was picked on when I was a child and I too turned to our dog Queenie. She always gave me love and she always listened. Bless you.
Yes, there does seem to be some issues with FF (or rather with the code that vBulletin uses!!!). What version of FF are you using? I'm on the mac and can use MMC a lot easier now with FF3 rather than FF2. (FF3 certainly seems to like the java countdown a lot better than FF2 to start with...)
I use FF 99% of the time as well. But now for MMC I use the Camino browser. Camino's mac only.
You could try clearing the cache or upgrading to FF3 if you're still on FF2. You could also try the Opera browser.
From what I remember when discussing this with Jeff a while ago was that he gears his site for the browser that the majority of his members use, which tends to be IE. I also use FF and have just learned how to work around some of the issues. Hope this helps a bit.
What do you do in regards to posting message's when using Firefox? I was lucky if 1 out of 10 post's would work. That was my biggest issue .Oh and the smilies.
Ever since Jeff PMed me telling me something in regards to Firefox and the forum not being compatable I've just been using IE when I'm on here.
I personally believe it is a variety of issues, most which you cannot control. My experience with FF overall on sites other than MMC has been less than positive as well. That could be a combination of the browser, anti-virus, anti-spyware, and computer security settings -- so to be fair, it might not be all FF's fault.
I keep several browers on all my machines and I can tell you that FF overall is the weakest performer especially on java-intensive sites, of which MMC is most certainly a part.
Of the 40 or so sites of which I have a part I can tell you that the number of users coming by way of FF is inconsequential compared to IE, Opera and others.
My personal preference in browser is Opera, followed by Maxthon. But I try to look at all the sites in as many browsers as I can to see what other's see. It is just impossible to make all things work for all people considering the endless amount of combinations that are out there. So we watch the logs and try to make things work for the majority.
Mine is not a FF issue, but when I use IE I get an error message noting that "Too many Java Virtual Machines running in the same process has caused and error." That message pops up every time I enter a post or change pages on every last site on the Merry Network.
It could be antispyware and connection settings here at the office, but if I could fix it, it would be MMC heaven.
