We have a complete Christmas buffet, which includes baked turkey, fried turkey, maple ham, fried chicken, salmon, greens, green beans, mac & cheese, sweet potatos, wild rice, rolls, and tons of deserts. We try to have something for every adult and every child.
I much prefer turkey to ham, in fact I would prefer pork roast or veal to ham -even pickerel, but that doesn't sound very Christmassy. I am not a big fan of ham - I do not like green eggs and ham.
My mother prepares Turkey for Thanksgiving and Christmas Dinner and Ham for Boxing Day.
I have lived in many places and have eaten a lot of things, but trout for Christmas is a new one for me. You must have a very flexible family. I think all our Christmas dinners have hovered around the barnyard variety main dish. One year we had cornish hens. Deep fried turkey is a favorite as well.
