Christmas TogetherWe're here year round and even though we are scattered all over the world and most of us have never met face-to-face we find ways to celebrate the season together. From our annual Christmas exchanges to scheduled chats our Christmasing together is discussed here.
The Best of Christmas Sitcoms

Remember when Black Friday was on Friday?
Imagine what will happen if the stores are allowed to stay open all night Christmas Eve until lunch time on Christmas Day! This year, more than 50,000 restaurants, bars, convenience stores and...
My Dog Sam
Dear Abby, I too was picked on when I was a child and I too turned to our dog Queenie. She always gave me love and she always listened. Bless you.
Thank you - I'm now desperately trying to think of questions they're going to ask me!!
By the way, well done Mrs H and Kelly Ann! 1) Anybody that can do medical transcriptions has my undying admiration and 2) Is it for stage/theatre you're going to do the makeup course for KA?? That would be a fantastic job!!
Go kick some Scottish-municipal-government-booty and grab yourself a new job...If they ask you how much they should pay you, smile and say "a million" and when they ask why say, "cause I'm a million dollar gal!" Tell them we said so...On second thought...Perhaps a bunch of nuts who talk about Christmas during the month of June are not the best references...But if they ask if you know anyone like that, you can give them my name!!!
Nothing is more important than the soundtrack!!!
Chiming in late but congrats on getting the interview!!! I know the nervous tummy feeling...interviews are nerve-wracking...but I know you'll get through just fine!
I remember the interview for the job I've got right now...I walked in and was immediately told that I was misinformed and the job was not full-time as I'd been told. Well, I thought "that's that then" because I knew I couldn't take a part time job. So, I was completely relaxed and completely *myself* through the whole interview (complete with jokes and sarcasm).
I remember when I was asked the question "If we were to hire you, would you plan to be in this job for the long term?" My answer was something like "Well, I've always been a long-term employee because I don't like change and detest job-hopping. However, if I should win the lottery, rest assured you would receive my resignation via fax from a beach somewhere where I will be reading a book and sipping something cold out of a glass with an umbrella."
Did I mention that I was interviewing for the position of Church Secretary?? The funny thing was the pastor liked my candor so much he got the board to approve the job for near full time and they called and offered it to me two days later. I accepted and have been here nearly 5 very happy years!!
Way to go Maureen!!!! Don't worry about the interview (easier said than done I know) but I agree with Sunshine... be yourself!!! That is all you need to sell it!!!! I will be thinking about you next Thrusday sending positive thoughts to you (granted I will be on the beach!!)
Okay, I've gathered up all my qualifications, have answers in my head for questions I think they're going to ask and am trying on interview clothes to see which look best. Cirque du Soleil would kill for the backflips my stomach is doing
This time tomorrow it will all be over bar the shouting so keep your fingers (and everything else crossable) crossed and I'll report back tomorrow night
Okay Maureen fill me in. Why would the local radio station be playing Christmas music in June in Scottland? I could understand July maybe. I live in Florida and there is a station here that will play Christmas music on July 25th. I don't even know where Christmas in July came from? Anyone know why that tradition started?
I can't believe as of today we are 6 months from Christmas!
I now know why I've stayed in the same job for so long - interviews are the spawn of the devil!!!
I'll hear next week but geez, talk about going through the wringer. Haven't a clue if I'll take it if I'm offered the post but as my OH put it "You have 3 choices 1) you're unhappy in where you are in Perth 2) you're unhappy at the new job in Dundee.... with more money or 3) you're happy at the new job in Dundee....with more money"
I kinda know how you feel, Maureen. You are where I was nearly two years ago to the day. I waited over a month to hear back from the interview.
The only difference is that I knew beyond a shadow of a doubt that I was leaving my almost twenty-seven year career if I got offered the job! I did and ain't never looked back! 'Course I got to retire from the old place first.
I wasn't happy for the last six years where I was and the choice was made easy. As far as the new place, I went in with an open mind and low expectations. I have yet to be disappointed! With a new mindset and opportunity, I am a happier person. My family deserved better and I rose to the occasion!
I filled out an online application for a part time job today. Never hurts to figure the next move!
