Pie anyone??

I usually substitute sweet potato pie for pumpkin. Tastes about the same and they're much easier to work with.

I'm in agreement about the mincemeat pie, UGH! I'd like to have my mom's peach or apple. She made a real mean strawberry rhubarb pie. Yummy!! My two favorites are banana cream and coconut cream.

*strawberry rhubarb..............* drool , closely followed by lemon meringue. But only homemade pies! I love mincemeat tarts, but don't like it as pie. A bit overwhelming.

I'd love a lemon merang(sp), but I'm allergic to Lemons. The husband likes Pecan pie, I'll buy one of those for him. I usually make pumpkin pie starting Labor Day til New Years.

Just found out hubby is diabetic so will have to come up with a few sugar free pies also this year.

Say it ain't so!! I LOVE pumpkin and I can't stand sweet potato. The taste to me is soooo drastically different!

Besides, I'm sure if you were nice to the pumpkins, they'd be as easy to work with as the sweet potatoes. :

Pumpkin and pecan pies are essentials for my clan.
Typically someone will make something different, from pumkin cheesecake to some fruit or custard pie......but it isn't a Thanksgiving or Chrismas meal without the choice of pumpkin or pecan pie.

I agree they taste different, however I'm the opposite, I can't stand pumpkin and I love anything with sweet potatoes.

Besides, I'm sure if you were nice to the pumpkins, they'd be as easy to work with as the sweet potatoes. :

You just haven't given them a chance. You have to massage the recipes a bit to suit your taste, and as with anything, the better the ingredients you put in, the better the resulting product will be.

No way will I ever believe that pumpkin is as easy to work with, unless you start using canned filling.

My favorite pie at Thanksgiving and Christmas is Mincemeat Pie. I grew up with it as a kid so it brings back fond memories of my childhood with every bite! I would have to say that my second favorite pie is pumpkin or pecan.

In our home Sweet potatoe pies are famous. Pumkin is okay, but Sweet potatoe is a must. We also have to have couple of cherry cheese cakes to go along with our deserts.
