If, like most parents, you start to stammer when you’re asked the eternal question about Santa, then this is the movie for you.

Fresh and funny, The Santa Clause was released in 1994 to rave reviews, and with its sequel out this year, it’s a movie worth revisiting.

Tim Allen plays advertising executive Scott Calvin who has the unfortunate experience of frightening Santa Claus off the roof of his home on Christmas. One thing leads to another and Scott heads to the North Pole where he discovers he must replace Santa Claus -- as duly stated in the ‘Santa Clause’.

Of course he doesn’t believe it, but just when you think Christmas is over, he decides to take on the job as a way to salvage his relationship with his son, Charlie (Eric Lloyd).

The real fun begins watching Scott transform into Santa -- belly, beard and all. While the North Pole is a paradise come true for any kid -- or kid at heart -- it deserves watching a couple of times just to catch all the nuances. There’s even something for mechanical buffs in the super-suped up Santa’s sleigh.

The Santa Clause may not have all the whoosh-bang of The Grinch, or the hilarity of A Christmas Story, but the story is endearing and is funny where it’s supposed to be. Scott and Charlie’s relationship grows, and more importantly, all those questions are answered.

If you’re DVD compatible, the DVD includes a ‘Fly Santa’s Sleigh’ game, a DVD-ROM advent calendar, elf training and holiday recipes.

Great for the whole family, if you haven’t seen it, now is the time as the sequel promises to hold more laughs and another twist on the ‘Clause’
