Santa Speaks 2011
Santa Claus annually meets with the media to conduct a candid interview about what he thinks on a variety of topics. This year Santa sat down with Mark Wade, the new Ambassador to the North Pole from My Merry Christmas.com, who is conducting his first ever interview with Santa:
Q: The first thing I want to do is thank you Santa for taking the time to sit down with me. How have you been this year?
A: Great! Nice to see you again, Mark. Have you been a good boy this year? I know I've been try... [Read More]

Santa Speaks 2010
Every October Santa sits down to be interviewed by a media personality. This has been his tradition almost as long as there has been a modern media. This year, Santa sat down with legendary West Virginia newsman Rusty Belz of radio station WVIP. This year Santa talks about retirement, Christmas in tough times, what he takes on the sleigh and using a whip.
Rusty Belz: Welcome to WVIP and the first ever live interview with Santa Claus!
Santa Claus: Uh, Rusty? This isn't the first live i... [Read More]

Santa Speaks 2009
Santa met this year with Jeff Westover, editor of My Merry Christmas.com, where these interviews have been hosted for over a decade. As you know, once a year and only one a year does Santa sit down with a member of the media. Santa grants these interviews only if they are published verbatim and do not include any editorial commentary from the interviewer. In this year’s interview Santa discusses the tough economy, the Chicago Cubs, recent news events and, more than ever, reveals new information ... [Read More]

Santa Speaks 2008
Early every October Santa sits down to be interviewed by a media personality. This has been his tradition almost as long as there has been a modern media. This year, Santa sat down with long time political reporter Hugh Kelly of KLIP-TV. This year Santa addresses the state of the world, the elections, the importance of talking with parents and his concerns with the Chicago Cubs -- again. Oh -- and Santa tells a joke this year, too.
Q: Hello, Santa.
A:. Hello, Hugh. How are you?

Santa Speaks 2007
Just as he does every year, Santa has been interviewed in advance of Christmas. And just as he has done in the past, Santa has met with an aspiring journalist, this year being 17-year-old Jeremy Hart of Fontana, California. Jeremy did something no other journalist with an exclusive interview has ever done -- he opened up the questions to the world. For more than a month the public was invited to submit their questions for Santa to Jeremy. The result is this candid conversation where we learn mor... [Read More]

Santa Speaks 2006
Once a year and only once a year Santa Claus sits down with a reporter. All topics are on the table. After last year's combative interview with a hostile journalist, Santa decided to meet with a more sincere kind of reporter. He met with Taylor Burnette, editor of the Bainesville, Iowa Calvin Coolidge Middle School newspaper. Here is a transcript of their conversation:
Q: Hello, Santa.
A: Why hello, Taylor! How nice to see you again. Would you like to sit on my lap?
Q: Not right... [Read More]

Santa Speaks 2005
Once a year and only once a year Santa Claus sits down with a reporter. All topics are on the table. This year Santa met with investigative reporter Della Monroe, of KRAT-TV in North Billings, Montana. To be honest, we were not really happy with this year's interview. I encouraged Santa to talk to another journalist who was not so combative. But Santa said that would not be right and that the world needs to see what happened in this interview. So here is a transcript of their difficult conversat... [Read More]

Santa Speaks 2004
Every year Santa Claus grants a single interview with a representative of the popular media. This representative gathers questions from all major media sources and presents them to Santa at one time. Ted Koppel had practically begged to get Santa on Nightline this year but Santa doesn't usually stay up that late and had to decline. Instead, he met with Molly Kingston of the Apple Valley Advocate in Burnham, Arkansas, giving the cub reporter her first worldwide exclusive.
Q: Thank you, M... [Read More]

Santa Speaks 2003
Once a year - usually in October - Santa sits down with a media representative and fields questions. As in years past, Santa has asked journalists from all news organizations to consolidate their questions into this one interview. Santa almost agreed to meet with Barbara Walters this year, but declined the invite because he can't really decide what kind of tree he would be, if he were a tree. So he is sitting down with Archie Nichols, Professor of Journalism at the University of Southern North D... [Read More]

Santa Speaks 2002
Santa recently sat down with NPI News Anchor Harry Holden in Chicago to answer the questions sent in by media professionals from all over the world. This is a transcript of their conversation:
Q: So, we meet again, Santa.
A: Yes, Harry. Nice to see you again. Remember the last time we were face to face? I think you were about seven years old.
Q: No, I was eight. I didn't think you existed and I dared you to prove to me that you did.
A: (laughs) Yes! What a fun Christmas that w... [Read More]
