Greetings fellow Christmas wackos! (In case you miss seeing this in the other countdown.)

On Tuesday night, my last night following the conference, I had the good fortune to stumble upon the Christmas Market in the distillery district of Toronto, Ontario.

I doubt the photos I took on my cell phone turned out so I'll have to share an adorable experience with y'all through my written visuals.

Three of my colleagues and I were looking for a spot to grab something to eat, the rain was putting a damper on our festive mood so standing and eating at vendor booths wasn't going to work for us.

One of the ladies asked an Elf who was guiding young and old visitors to Santa's lap. She was adorable!

She replied in the most delightful elfish manner, "I couldn't possibly give you directions since I'm from the North Pole and have no knowledge of the surroundings. Perhaps you could keep your eyes open for a human person wearing a vest and a Christmas Market badge for access to a map." We thanked her and went on our way.

We admired the decorations while the smell of mulled wine and cinnamon spices filled the air and the sounds of the strolling carollers (Dicken's style) sang beautifully in our ears.

There were snowman statues here and there and we stopped to snap a photo and there was the Elf again posing with the snowman. She passed again a short time later speaking elf-tongue as she passed only speaking to herself. One of my colleagues suspected she had gotten into that mulled wine. I was on top of the world with gratitude for how awesome she was and how "in character" she became. I said, "She's not playing an Elf, she is an Elf. The best Santas do the same thing and I know many of them."

P.S. We met up with 2 more of our conference buddies and wound up having dinner at the Old Spaghetti Factory that was a 20 minute walk for most, but we hit it in 12. Guess we were hungry.

Here's a link if you want to see what fun awaited us there.

We didn't have to pay to look around.

Sweet dreams Christmas chums; keep a merry thought in your head! :elfing

It was a wonderful experience; the tree was huge with big red balls and gold icicles hanging down from the real branches with clear fairy lights. The entire time, I thought about how much my merry friends would love to experience it with me.

wow everyone, now that we can see Christmas so close, you wonder how it manages to go so fast now! Merry Merry Christmas to you all, my old friends from CT.. Hope to be more active and 'with it" in 2016.. Have to admit losing my son this year really took everything away in the way of good cheer, but I know it will come back.. Have a wonderful peaceful Christmas ( mrs santas sister)

So hard to believe Christmas is nearly, here. I've truly enjoyed the season....baking, shopping (online, mostly! ), watching favorite Christmas movies/TV classics and listening to hours and hours of Christmas music, but I'm not ready for this fun to suddenly be over!

O'Malley needs a gift, but we have no room for more toys.
Nearly finished shopping just my dad, husband, the cat and a family friend to shop for which I'll get finished today. Think O'Malley will just be getting some grain free cat treats and a large gift bag to rest on; he likes them because his fur doesn't stick to them and it helps him stay cool.

I wrote another Christmas song based on a non-Christmas song a few years ago. At this festive time of year, it seems as good a time as any to share it with my jolly friends.

Searching For a Merry Feeling
Written by Auntie Mistletoe (that's me) Based on the tune, ‘The Little White Cloud that Cried‘, by Johnny Ray (performed once upon a time by Jamie Redfern)

I went searching for a merry feeling
I headed into the downtown core
Cedar boughs, lights and bows adorned the shops
Sale signs in every window and on every door

I went searching for a merry feeling
Spotted a couple huddled in a doorway, less fortunate than I
Carollers standing on every other corner
Heard Church Bells resonating across the sky

I went searching for a merry feeling
Headed out onto a country road
I came upon a living Nativity
The wise farmer approached, carrying a heavy load

The stranger understood what I was seeking
And this is what I was told,
“If you are search for a merry feeling
You will search until your body turns cold.

I’m sure you know joy is something from within
Filled with the traditions and celebrations you hold dear
If it vanishes from your city
It’s up to you to keep it near.”

I went home feeling rather silly
For having doubted what I knew all along
The merry feeling we all hold deep inside
Pumps through me with a fresh new song.

I woke up from my daydream in the shower
Knowing I had to share with all my friends
The secret to keeping very merry at Christmas
Is sharing memories; I hope it never ends.

Festive Regards my Merry Friends,
