Think of all the starches and sugars we eat on Thanksgiving: mashed potatoes, sweet potatoes, bread stuffing/dressing, rolls, cakes and pies, punch.

We get a glycemic high in our blood , followed by a glycemic crash .

I'm thinking that it's the combination of the jillions of calories and carbs I consume, the family I have to deal with and the tons of cooking that I do on Thanksgiving that make me want to hibernate.

Yes, all those carbs plus the fact that the house of your elderly parents is kept at a steady 85 degrees will make you very sleepy.
