When the Autumn season is nearing, there are certain movies and specials that I love to watch!

When I think about autumn the words nostalgia, cosy, comfort, mystery and eerie immediately come to mind. Here are some of the films I enjoy watching this time of year that evoke these feelings. Autumn is more than a season, it's a mood :)

    Notting Hill
    You’ve got mail
    Sleepless in Seattle
    Garden State
    American Beauty
    Donnie Darko
    Dead Poets Society
    Interview With A Vampire
    Mermaids
    The Burbs
    The Witches of Eastwick
    Practical Magic
    Edward Scissorhands
    Harry Potter
    The Lost Boys
    Beetlejuice
    Gremlins

I love film noir and old movies and I watch a lot of them during Autumn especially. Chilly, dismal days with a cast of orange glow and the smell of fallen leaves and burning firewood makes the perfect setting for all things vintage and nostalgic ...

    An Affair To Remember
    Casablanca
    Breakfast at Tiffany's
Cat on A Hot Tin Roof
    Street Car Named Desire
    Rebel Without a Cause
    The Trouble With Harry
    The Blob
    Bedknobs and Broomsticks
    House on Haunted Hill (original)
    The Birds
    Psycho (Original)
    Rear Window
    The Blue Dhalia
Anything with Cary Grant ,Humphrey Bogart, James Dean, Marlon Brando, Paul Newman!

I will post as I remember....

I enjoyed thinking about them all. I did it quite quickly so I am sure there are a few I have missed. Will post as I remember.

You have a brilliant list there also! We have quite a few in common even though I may not have mentioned them in my list. There are also a few I would like to check out like Halloweentown and Monster Squad. They sound like just the thing I would like.

I'm not much into the Halloween themed movies exactly but you're right in that there is an order to things that I watch at this time of the year. I hold certain movies for this time of year because of their seasonality (at least in my small brain). But it's a guy's list:

    Rudy
    Phenomenon
    Baby Boom
    Planes, Trains and Automobiles
    Hoosiers
    Dead Poets
    Pearl Harbor
    The Natural
    October Sky

There are others...this is off the top of my head....I see there isn't a Bruce Willis movie on there anywhere. Will have to rectify that...

It was fun to see this thread again. There are quite a few I didn't ever get round to adding and even a few new ones since then. I did get around to the above mentioned movies and they did not disappoint!! October Sky is a brilliant film . I am a huge Jake Gyllenhaal fan- such a fantastic actor. I love watching Halloween Town movies with my kids and I finally did get a copy of Monster Squad from my husband as a birthday present. It was impossible to source here in the UK at one point!!! It's classic!
