Doing something a little different for picture day this week in honor of another Thanksgiving tradition that we don't talk about that often (or at least less often than other transitions).

I love watching the National Dog Show every year after the parade! I don't sit down and watch the whole thing from start to finish, but much like football, it is at least on in the background, and I will always take the time to see who the winners are.

The French bulldog pictured below is named Winston, and he was the winner of last year's show.

Also interesting: The Dog Show does not take place on Thanksgiving Day, but it is actually filmed on the Saturday and Sunday prior to Thanksgiving. In the back of my mind I knew this, but imagining that it's a live show taking place on Thanksgiving Day itself is always fun.

If the time between now and Thanksgiving goes as fast as the first almost three weeks of September, I better start my Thanksgiving dinner shopping now!
I agree! I can't believe tomorrow is already the 20th! Hitting Single Digits have been a bit of a wake up call!

Happy Tuesday to all. I love seeing the pictures even though I don't post many of them. I'm sorry about that. I just like being in here and sharing / experiencing the Thanksgiving Vibe that is always present in here.

I am very much looking forward to Thanksgiving this year because my office will be closed for THREE DAYS for observance of Thanksgiving!

Have a great day!
One of the things I love about Thanksgiving Week is when I get home from my favorite work day of the year ending by 1PM the latest I basically don't leave my house till some time on Friday so for like 44-45 hours straight I'm in my house which is very rare for me. I love being home for the holidays.

DAYS TILL THANKSGIVING: 64
DAYS TILL NOVEMBER: 42

Happy Summer September Mid-Week! Today folks we have 64 days remaining until Thanksgiving and 42 days to go until November. Our next milestone will be the Arrival of Autumn which will take place on Saturday. What a celebratory weekend it will be for us Awesome Autumn fans which is the time period we started earlier this month. Fans of our Wednesday Poll please below your weekly fix!

If you had to eliminate one of the following from autumn which would you choose?
  • Football – Let them play it another time of year.
  • Leaves turning/falling – Let it be a green fall.
  • Halloween Season – Move it to spring doesn’t matter to me.
  • Cooler Weather – Let it be hot or cold doesn’t matter to me.
  • This one isn’t easy for me. I can’t imagine fall without football. A green fall wouldn’t seem right. Halloween Season? You move that and half my fall is ruined. Weather? I mean some years we don’t get much of a fall anyway so I guess I’ll go with D. Maybe having some 80 degrees days mixed in with some 40 degree days and not much in between together might bring the average down close enough so that it’ll feel like fall in my brain? How about you? Have a great Summer September Mid-Week!

Yes. I will go A too. I love football but if football was played in spring I would still love it. Football ends in the winter anyways. High-school football not in the fall would feel the weirdest of the three (hs college pros). Nothing feels like fall like a Friday Night High-school football game.

It's a tough answer, but I have to go with "A". I think we would all love whenever football eventually returned. I can't imagine fall without the other three choices!

DAYS TILL THANKSGIVING: 63
DAYS TILL NOVEMBER: 41

Happy Late Late Summer! Today folks we have 63 days remaining until Thanksgiving and 41 days to go until November. Our next milestone will be on Saturday. It will be the official arrival of Autumn. And with it the official departure of my shorts. It looks like it’s going to FEEL like Autumn this weekend too with chilly temps and even into next week. Right on schedule here with our own version of Awesome Autumn and our Thanksgiving Thought Thursday below!

Soon I’ll be seriously thinking about Thanksgiving but not yet. Maybe that’s a problem for me? I don’t think about it seriously until November. But that gives me a few weeks at least (or more). How do you start seriously thinking about it earlier if you’re totally in love with the Halloween Season? Ironically, do you know the one holiday I am going to make sure I think about earlier next year? 4th of July. It deserves it.

It seems like we always have something linking us to the next season or holiday so it’s hard to give too much time to one individual holiday. I guess that’s why we have specific threads like this one to give 365 days a year to it. Have a great Late Late Summer!

I have found that even starting to "seriously" think about the holidays I love early, has not diminished how special they are when they actually arrive. I remember feeling like that several years ago when I finally made "the plunge" and embraced a 24/7 Christmas lifestyle. I was worried that actual Christmas wouldn't feel special. That never happened. And then a few years ago when I started doing JOL Days, I worried that it would dull down "actual" Halloween when it came, and that never happened. So I think there's no danger in any of us starting to think about our holidays a little early! Have a great day!
