So I've finally done it - I have finally booked to visit the US! This will be the fulfilment of a lifelong ambition for me :)

I will be visiting NYC from 23rd 26th October this year with Mrs TSAH to celebrate our 15th wedding anniversary and we are looking for ideas to help us get into the Christmas spirit during our visit...

We will obviously be doing the regular sightseeing bits such as 9/11 memorial, ESB etc. but are also keen to find any festive places to visit - famous Christmas movie locations such as Trump Plaza and Central Park are already planned!

Any ideas would be most appreciated...

Time Square and Rockefeller Center are also good places to visit. Central Park is huge and they do offer carriage rides for a cost.

I a bit disappointed that the Rockefella Tree will not be up but hey ho...

Central Park is on my list of Christmas Movie locations - particularly the Home Alone 2 and Elf Ones :)

We've also decided to do two out of the Rockerfella, One World Observatory or The Empire State.

    Literally beside myself with excitement!

It is a great time of year to be visiting NY. I've loved my visits there in the fall.

Have fun. I used to live and work there - In fact, I worked just across the street from Rockefeller Center and the ice rink. There is also Museum of Modern Art, Museum of Natural History, Statue of Liberty, Broadway shows, Macy's etc. Too bad you won't be there 5 or so weeks later!

Even though the tree doesn't come in til mid-November the ice rink should (maybe?) be open when you are in the city! It usually opens late October!

There are also two Christmas stores in Times Square, they aren't anything super extravagant but they are fun to walk around and both do custom ornaments. Maybe you and the Mrs. can get to remember your trip!

You can walk around the shoppes at the Plaza and hit Home Alone 2 AND Eloise at Christmastime locations!

Also taking a stop to Radio City Music Hall (maybe even book a tour?) When you do the tour you can meet a Rockette at the end and get a tiny taste of Christmas that way!

Finally. Levain Bakery on the Upper West Side (74th street between Amsterdam and Columbus). It isn't necessarily Christmas themed BUT it is my favorite bakery in the city! Their cookies are MASSIVE and their sour cream cake is absolutely wonderful!
