Kaitlyn Baker is Rockin’ Around the Christmas Tree

The newest version of the holiday classic “Rockin’ Around the Christmas Tree” comes courtesy of country singer Kaitlyn Baker and Mansion Entertainment/Sony RED.

The song, written by Johnny Marks, was first recorded by Brenda Lee in 1958 and has since become one of the most popular Christmas songs ever. Baker grew up listening to it, and wanted to record her own version.

“It has always been one of my favorite Christmas songs, because it’s so family-oriented and fun,” Baker said. “I’m not trying to sound like Brenda Lee, but I wanted my version to be somewhat similar to the original, which is why there is a strong emphasis on the saxophone. However, I think the twang in my voice gives it more of a country sound.”

An accompanying music video features Baker at home in Virginia, clowning around with friends and family as they struggle to decorate a Christmas tree, tangled lights and all. Cute children (Baker’s nephew and nieces) get in on the act, along with her dogs, who keep getting in the way, though nobody seems to mind.
