The Christmas season in the UK gets off with a bang each year as lights are festively lit in a very public way and the Christmas shopping public rushes to their televisions to watch the best of this year’s Christmas commercials.
Americans can scratch their head at this all they want. This is the UK tradition and it’s a good one. While Americans wax nostalgic for Christmas commercials of their youth tied to the same animated TV specials playing since the 1960s Brits are enjoying brilliant and all-new ads each year that are like mini-movies — they tell a story, share new music and maybe even cause you to shed a tear or two.
In essence, they aren’t really ads. They are entertainment.
None is bigger than the John Lewis ad and everyone has been waiting for it. Wait no more….
