itemtype=\"https:\/\/schema.org\/CreativeWork\" ><div class='avia_textblock'  itemprop=\"text\" ><p>Under the auspices of\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/santassleigh.org\/operation-christmas-cheer\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"><strong>Santa\u2019s Sleigh<\/strong><\/a>\u00a0we run a simple effort every year that we call\u00a0<strong><a href=\"https:\/\/santassleigh.org\/operation-christmas-cheer\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Operation Christmas Cheer<\/a>.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Operation Christmas Cheer aims to make the holiday season brighter for those folks who might be shut-in or otherwise unable to participate much in the festivities of the season. We look to bring the cheer to them.<\/p>\n<p>The inspiration for this was my Mom, who had seen her world become smaller and smaller due to declining health.<\/p>\n<p>In the last years of her life we were able to get her into my home for a few hours at Christmas time and she greatly admired the dozens and dozens of Christmas cards our family received via our annual\u00a0<strong><a href=\"https:\/\/mymerrychristmas.com\/events\/annual-christmas-card-exchange\/\">Christmas card exchange<\/a><\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>Wistfully she told me, in the spirit of\u00a0<em>It\u2019s a Wonderful Life<\/em>, \u201cNo man is a failure who has friends\u201d.<\/p>\n<p>There was a time when she used to get many Christmas cards for Christmas. But as she got older and her friends faded away \u2014 and as she physically grew unable to continue to send out cards of her own \u2014 she received just a precious few.<\/p>\n<p>Wouldn\u2019t it be great to flood her mailbox with cards from folks all over the world?<\/p>\n<p>That&#8217;s all this effort of Operation Christmas Cheer is about. We have seen it work magic every Christmas.
