First the Norse version of <a href=\"https:\/\/mymerrychristmas.com\/x\/celebrating-20-years-of-the-merry-forums\/\">Santa<\/a> was announced as coming to the big screen and now the \u201canti-Santa\u201d is coming. Deep in the mountain villages of Austria a <a href=\"http:\/\/christmashistory.net\/krampus\/\" target=\"_blank\">mythical creature by the name of Krampus<\/a> terrorizes \u201cnaughty\u201d kids and adults alike and a \u201cChristmas\u201d movie themed after this terrifying tradition is now in the works. <\/p>\n<p>The film \u2013 which will start principal photography in September \u2013 tells the tale of ancient, devil-like creatTure Krampus, who eats naughty children at Christmas-time.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWhen I was a kid, if they wanted to make a <a href=\"https:\/\/mymerrychristmas.com\/x\/celebrating-20-years-of-the-merry-forums\/\">Christmas<\/a> horror movie, they\u2019d stick an axe in Santa\u2019s hands\u201d explains Smith. \u201cIn ANTI-CLAUS, we leave <a href=\"https:\/\/mymerrychristmas.com\/x\/celebrating-20-years-of-the-merry-forums\/\">Santa<\/a> alone and creep with the Krampus through twisted tales of holly-jolly murder, desire, desperation and despair. Just in time for the holiday season.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIn America, we\u2019re taught that nice kids gets presents from <a href=\"https:\/\/mymerrychristmas.com\/x\/celebrating-20-years-of-the-merry-forums\/\">Santa<\/a> and naughty kids get coal. But in countries like Germany, Austria, Bavaria, Romania and Hungary, <a href=\"https:\/\/mymerrychristmas.com\/x\/celebrating-20-years-of-the-merry-forums\/\">Christmas<\/a> is more metal than merry: Saint Nicholas brings a sack full of toys for good kids and the Krampus carries an empty bag for taking away the bad kids. I wanna see THAT <a href=\"https:\/\/mymerrychristmas.com\/x\/celebrating-20-years-of-the-merry-forums\/\">Christmas<\/a> movie. So rather than wait for it, we\u2019ll make it instead.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Smith is currently working on another horror entitled Tusk, and ANTI-KLAUS will utilise much of that cast, including Michael Parks, Justin Long, Haley Joel Osment and Genesis Rodriguez, while SFX wizard Robert Kurtzman will create the creature.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Santa and his jolly traditional image is taking a beating.
