{"id":22716,"date":"2015-05-20T12:26:02","date_gmt":"2015-05-20T18:26:02","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/mymerrychristmas.com\/?p=22716"},"modified":"2015-05-20T11:49:29","modified_gmt":"2015-05-20T17:49:29","slug":"bad-santa-2-to-begin-filming-soon","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/mymerrychristmas.com\/x\/bad-santa-2-to-begin-filming-soon\/","title":{"rendered":"Bad Santa 2 to Begin Filming Soon"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>According to multiple sources Bad <a href=\"https:\/\/mymerrychristmas.com\/x\/celebrating-20-years-of-the-merry-forums\/\">Santa<\/a> is getting a sequel and Billy Bob Thornton will be back to play the most pathetic figure of <a href=\"https:\/\/mymerrychristmas.com\/x\/celebrating-20-years-of-the-merry-forums\/\">Santa<\/a> Claus ever put on film. <\/p>\n<p><em>Entourage<\/em> director Doug Ellin told <a href=\"http:\/\/collider.com\/bad-santa-2-sequel-filming-this-year-says-doug-ellin\/\" target=\"_blank\">Collider<\/a> that his plans following the work on his latest release this summer will be to begin filming <em>Bad <a href=\"https:\/\/mymerrychristmas.com\/x\/celebrating-20-years-of-the-merry-forums\/\">Santa<\/a> 2<\/em> in September. <\/p>\n<blockquote><p> \u201cI\u2019m supposed to do Bad <a href=\"https:\/\/mymerrychristmas.com\/x\/celebrating-20-years-of-the-merry-forums\/\">Santa<\/a> 2 in September,\u201d the director explained, discussing his upcoming slate. When asked to specify, he was wary of giving details but said, \u201cWe\u2019re working on the script right now and if we get it right, we\u2019ll shoot it in September\/October, Billy Bob is back and good to go.\u201d<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>Don&#8217;t expect the sequel to be anything less than a Hard-R at the box office. Ellin is on record as stating that his purposes are to keep the sequel&#8217;s spirit in line with the harsh comedy of the original. <\/p>\n<p>Bad <a href=\"https:\/\/mymerrychristmas.com\/x\/celebrating-20-years-of-the-merry-forums\/\">Santa<\/a> was popular with 20-somethings more than a decade ago but it was widely panned by critics and has never achieved the cult-status of holiday perennial favorite like <em><a href=\"https:\/\/mymerrychristmas.com\/x\/northpole-7\/\">Elf<\/a><\/em> that it hoped to achieve. Serious <a href=\"https:\/\/mymerrychristmas.com\/x\/celebrating-20-years-of-the-merry-forums\/\">Santa<\/a> fans decried the film and parent groups protested.
