Crooners? &#8212; well, he&#8217;s crooning here and doing it well in a popular video from last December:<\/p>\n<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" width=\"853\" height=\"480\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/rnEqv8WcVq8\" frameborder=\"0\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe> <\/p>\n<p>It is funny how a classic <a href=\"https:\/\/mymerrychristmas.com\/x\/celebrating-20-years-of-the-merry-forums\/\">Christmas<\/a> song remains a classic. Smith in his rendition is traditionally soulful but he seems to understand that this song isn&#8217;t your typical happy <a href=\"https:\/\/mymerrychristmas.com\/x\/celebrating-20-years-of-the-merry-forums\/\">Christmas<\/a> tune. In fact, it is interesting to read in the comments from obviously younger fans who don&#8217;t know or understand the origin of this song. <\/p>\n<p>The song, of course, comes from a movie &#8212; <em>Meet Me in St. Louis<\/em> &#8212; part of which tells the story of loved ones who cannot be together for <a href=\"https:\/\/mymerrychristmas.com\/x\/celebrating-20-years-of-the-merry-forums\/\">Christmas<\/a>. It&#8217;s supposed to be a little sad and yet still hopeful. <\/p>\n<p>Some times we think when modern artists release their versions of <a href=\"https:\/\/mymerrychristmas.com\/x\/celebrating-20-years-of-the-merry-forums\/\">Christmas<\/a> classics we think some mandatory viewing of a little <a href=\"https:\/\/mymerrychristmas.com\/x\/celebrating-20-years-of-the-merry-forums\/\">Christmas<\/a> history should be required. <\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>At 138 days in the Countdown to Christmas we take a listen today to crooner Sam Smith &#8212; we still call them that, right?
