It was a swipe at the year round celebration of Christmas<\/a> and of those who \u201ctook Christmas<\/a> to the hobbyist\u201d level. What other holiday, they asked, has such a following?<\/p>\n

Indeed. The groupies of Christmas<\/a> are many: there are the Christmas<\/a> light fanatics, the professional Santas, the Christmas<\/a> radio<\/a> geeks, the year-round Christmas<\/a> music freaks, the Christmas<\/a> collectors, the Christmas<\/a> historians, the Christmas<\/a> foodies, and the Christmas<\/a> organizers. There are so many sub-groups that embrace the specialties of Christmas<\/a> we cannot even begin to enlist them all.<\/p>\n

What kind of Christmas<\/a> weirdo are you?<\/p>\n

Besides Christmas<\/a> itself, do you know what these lovers of Christmas<\/a> all hold in common?<\/p>\n

It is called Christmas in July<\/strong><\/a> and to them it is more than just a time of year. It is a rallying cry \u2013 a time for them to stand up, take notice and be heard on all things Christmas<\/a>.<\/p>\n

This year we think your July will likely feature more Christmas<\/a> than ever.<\/p>\n

Hallmark<\/strong><\/a>, of course, will dominate your television set with Christmas<\/a> movies. Not to be outdone, the shopping channels like QVC will be blasting Christmas in July sales<\/strong><\/a> like crazy. Not to be outdone, Amazon unofficially kicks of their Christmas<\/a> selling for the year with their Prime Day.<\/p>\n

But that\u2019s not all.<\/p>\n

The Christmas Expo<\/strong><\/a> lights<\/a> up Dallas on July 19-21 with one of the largest trade shows dedicated to Christmas<\/a> decoration around. Not to be outdone, the Golden Glow of Christmas Past<\/strong><\/a> \u2013 a celebration of vintage Christmas<\/a> stuff \u2013 kicks off in August.<\/p>\n

Online the forces of merriment are gathering as well. Right here on My Merry Christmas<\/a> we have our traditional Christmas<\/a> in July events to celebrate and we\u2019ll talk about them all over on the Merry Forums<\/a>.<\/p>\n

\"ChristmasAll Things Christmas<\/strong><\/a> is coordinating a blog swap in July, marshalling the forces of Christmas Past<\/strong><\/a>, Christmas Weekly<\/strong><\/a>, and sites such as Walking on Sunshine Recipes<\/strong><\/a>.<\/p>\n

Christmas TV History<\/strong><\/a> is holding their traditional Christmas<\/a> in July blogathon as well.<\/p>\n

It all unofficially kicked off on Leon Day<\/strong><\/a> and unofficially ends on Christmas<\/a> Creep Day, a day marked on August 1st when the media traditionally starts complaining about Christmas<\/a> stuff being sold in stores.<\/p>\n

There will be Christmas Podcasts<\/strong><\/a> from many, and even the celebration of Christmas in July from the North Pole<\/strong><\/a> with replays of Santa\u2019s flight last Christmas Eve<\/strong><\/a>.<\/p>\n

Despite media publications like The Atlantic<\/em> who despise Christmas<\/a> and those who celebrate it, July will be a joyous time as folks in many areas of the world fight off the heat by anticipating a little Christmas<\/a>.<\/p>\n

That is one of the joys of Christmas<\/a>. It is not just a day. It is not just a season, even.<\/p>\n

Christmas<\/a> is, as it is said, a state of mind. It is a state of being. Whether you chose to celebrate it with lights<\/a>, movies, podcasts or events celebrating it does not actually make you a weirdo.<\/p>\n

It makes you an old soul of good intent, one who indeed extends \u201cgood tidings of great joy, which shall be to all people\u201d.<\/p>\n
