Little Big Town participated in CMA’s Country Christmas by unleashing these sweet harmonies from a Christmas classic:
CMA’s Country Christmas program aired on November 30th on ABC and it brought out a lot of great music. But this one was one of the best.
Little Big Town is not new to Christmas music, having previously released Have Yourself a Merry Little Christmas, Go Tell it on the Mountain, and Silent Night all as singles.
Rumors of a Christmas album have been around for a while.
“I think you have to really address the classics,” band member Phillip Sweet told ABC News Radio. “I think that’s what people want to hear. Of course, we want to do some originals. We always want to do something a little different, but always still fresh but at the same time familiar and beautiful.”
The band aren’t simply leaning on musical inspiration for the record, turning also to their favourite seasonal films and traditions for inspiration.
“One of our favorite Christmas tradition is gathering around the television to watch holiday movies,” Karen Fairchild adds. “And I know for Kimberly [Schlapman], it starts with It’s a Wonderful Life. Ours is holiday movies and records — like, certain records have to be played in [a certain] order for Jimi [Westbrook].”
