Christmas Countdown - 2018

100 days is coming! I'm going to get out my little keepsake ornament that does the countdown and put some batteries in it. I keep it on my desk at work...but it needs some batteries and ol' Santa needs to get ready to go!

We didn't go out this weekend, but a local store has so much Halloween candy out! Amazing...

This week, we walk head-first in the the Bers....

With yet another Milestone in the rear-view mirror, we look ahead to the start of the 'bers. And the first one of those will see the launch of Christmas Blossoms 2018, which always signals that the holiday season is right on our threshold.

With that lead-in, let's inspect today's numbers:
Days to the Season: 79
Days to Christmas Day: 121

Of course, every time a Milestone marker appears in our rear-view mirror, another one pops up in the windshield.

Are you ready little voice, because the next one is BIG and it's only 3 weeks away.
Folks, we are talking about the 100-day Christmas Day Window, after which BOTH of our counts will be in double-digits.

Still the pleasant weather, with no rain.
Another dry day today, but the temperatures will slowly climb into the upper 80's.
For now, we are quite comfortable at 65 degrees to start the second half of our weekend.

buttermilk biscuits

2 cups flour
3 tsp baking powder
1/2 tsp salt
1/4 cup sugar
1/2 cup butter
2/3 cup buttermilk (appox)

mix first 4 ingrediants
cut in butter until no big pieces are left
add buttermilk a little at a time until it forms a soft dough
turn out on counter and knead only until is holds together
(over kneading makes biscuits tough instead of light)
flatten with hand and fold in half, repeat 5 times
flatten to about 1/2 inch and cut out biscuits

bake at 400' for 12 to 15 min or until just turning light brown on top

Thanks everyone!
We made a lot of progress at my daughters apartment today. I’m heading back over there tomorrow to help out some more. I’m hoping they will be completely settled in very soon.
My father was discharged from the hospital today, he’s so happy to be home. He was having issues with his blood thinner and the diuretic. The doctors decided to adjust the dosages, it seems to be helping for the time being. I’m going to visit him tomorrow morning before I go over to my daughters apartment

Good Saturday morning! The humidity is back I'll be working all weekend and I'm counting down the days till my vacation starting on the 1st of September. I can feel that I'm not as productive because I'm so tired. Hope everyone will have a great weekend ahead!

Saturday already !!!
Buttermilk biscuits are in the oven for breakfast. I plan on making a batch of red pepper jelly sometime today and also finish sewing detail on 18 aprons for our church community kitchen.

We are also winding down on our summer music festival. This year they had a display called the Museum of the Moon. The moon has actual pictures taken by Nassau of its surface.

Have fun sewing today!!! I have tried so many times to make buttermilk biscuits... do you have a good recipe? Or what is your secret lol!? Beautiful pictures! When I was a kid we used to grow giant sunflowers and then dry and eat the seeds, brings back good memories! That moon thing is too cool.

So far it has been a pretty good weekend! On Friday I took Gandalf for a walk with one of my good friends and her dog Percy, they had a blast! Gandalf has to go to the vet on Monday though for a reoccurring issue (he has been such a sick pup his entire life), hoping we don't get any more bad news... After that I went with my mom to the local running shop and picked up some new shoes and ran 7 miles in them this morning. They feel soooo much better than my old running shoes! No more blisters and knee pain yay! Hubby and I got a lot of work done around the house and yard this morning since my grandma is coming in this weekend. Feels so good to get all your work done early on in the day and then just relax....... Think I will eat a big bear claw topped with powdered sugar tonight for dessert!

Good Afternoon, friends~

Happy Sunday! Hope you're having a nice weekend.

I decorated some more yesterday, and then Adrian and I went out for dinner and drinks on the patio. It was too beautiful not to get some extra time outside.

Today has been catching up on a few things around the house, and phone calls with family.
A nasty storm just came through, unexpectedly. It was beautiful and eerie and the same time. Poor Harlowe wasn't too impressed.

Laundry is calling my name, so I think I'll throw in an Autumn movie, and get to folding.

Good Sunday evening everyone! Hope everyone is having a great weekend. Today was the annual Fantasy Football Draft with my family. It is something I look forward to every year! I think this is our 15th year? Somewhere around there. We had some great food (this years menu was pepperoni pizza and white pizza with grilled chicken, fried chicken, cookies, chips, scarecrow crunch, which is a mixture of many different fall themed snacks in little bags, and a dessert that is a MUST for every draft, it is originally called snack mix squares but one year it was really humid and it didn't set up properly so someone called it "moisty" and the name moisty mix just stuck! Every draft day the first question asked is "did you make the moisty mix?" One of our traditions now!). I just love the friendly trash talking we all do each draft day. But most importantly, I love seeing all of my nephews. We have such a great time with them! Here's hoping I actually win more than one or two games this year!!

Less then 120 days until Christmas now! In the UK from about the 8th of November shops start decorating for Christmas.

Good evening friends! I thought I stop in and see what's going on before I crash for the night. I've been inside all day cleaning, cooking and doing projects. It sure made to a very quick day, that's for sure.

I am so excited about this week coming up, it's the last week in August and then we are back in the ber's. Oh Yes! Sooooo, looking forward to the cooler Fall temperatures.

woke up to a big bang this morning at 5 am as a thunderstorm rolled through., so much for another 1/2 hour of sleep.
Off to look after Layla before taking her to horse riding camp for the day and then I have a cake to bake and decorate.
