Back to reality today and it is going to be such a hot, humid day. My daughter has a soccer scrimmage today but not sure if they will have it or not as some schools are already canceling after school activities.
Just work for me today and tonight I am making an Italian Mac and Cheese.

Good morning and Happy Tuesday!
It’s going to be sunny, hot and humid today. I don’t have too much planned, just a typical day of errands and chores. I’ll probably hang out by the pool this afternoon and enjoy what’s left of summer. Dinner will be tacos. That’s about it for me. I hope everyone is well and has a wonderful day!!!

Good morning MMC! "Merry Tuesday!" Back to reality day!! I'm a little late, but welcome to the BER's!!! We've been celebrating the BER's with temps of 92º ~ Real feel of 99º! That was the hottest Labor Day weekend I can remember! Wew!!

I hope you all had a wonderful holiday weekend! Not much up for me today besides work & then groceries for Mom! Planning to be inside as much as possible...even though it's freezing at work!!

I did not get up early as planned. I decided I wanted to soak in the last day of sleeping in before the school year starts. Nothing too exciting here today. Since it is so hot out I will fill up Carolinas baby pool for her to play in. I work tonight and then tomorrow we will really get back into the swing of a routine since everyone will go back to their normal work schedules

I had to look up and read about what a beaver dam waterproofing system is; Interesting concept. Oh SF, that really stinks about this ordeal what your sister has to go through now. Thank the Lord she has family like yourself in her life. Water damage is a very, very bad thing, and the mold, ah my goodness, that alone in itself can cause so many illness, respiratory problems and more. Yes, a remedial and cleanup companies will make sure that the mold will not grow, but more importantly, they will get the moisture out of the wood, so that it can all properly dry out.

I had that same problem with a townhouse I owned once, I could not keep the water/ moisture out of my basement, no matter what I did and as well as that moldy/ mildewed smell. So I completely understand. I wish there was something that I could do to help you all.

Good first of September everyone! I still can't believe we're here already. After working about 60 hours this week, I had trouble falling asleep and went to bed at 1:30am and have just now fully woken up at 11:00am (way too late for my taste but I guess I needed it). Not much planned today, just a bit of shopping and relaxing. Hope everyone will have a great start to the 'bers!

I thought there would be a countdown to the 'Ber months on here last night...! I was out at a friend's apartment during that time, but I was a little concerned that I would be missing something! I guess we're only good for a couple real-time countdowns per year? There's nothing wrong with that, though, I'm greatly looking forward to one specific countdown in barely over two months time.

It feels great to say that.

A teacher friend/colleague of mine moved to the Philippines in December of last year. Why am I telling you this? Well, her husband's birthday is on September 1st. Why am I telling you this? Well, some people in North America think we are crazy for counting down to the Christmas Season and keeping Christmas in our hearts all year long... September 1st, in the Phillippines, signifies the beginning of the Christmas Season. I've heard it's a long one, but my friend posted this article today... I think it's something we should all experience at least once!

Welcome to September all! Yes, it's still technically summer, and the weather confirms it, but the journey into the cool days, warm sweaters, pumpkins, and leaf piles has begun. Applesauce oatmeal loaf has been started and I'll probably hit the farmer's market this weekend.

Good news, I start a new job this coming week. I'll be baking at a local supermarket full time. There will be early shifts, but I'll still hope to keep posting fairly regularly.

We're having a group of people from church coming over on Monday for a supper/meeting so I'll have to think of something to make. I've already picked up a nice roast, so that's in store. Maybe I'll be inspired at the market.

I am wanting to make a big batch of Ham & Vegetable soup for 2 of our neighbors who both just lost their Dads, & also some for our friend who just had surgery...but it's so darn hot!! Too hot for soup!!

This turned out to be a lazy kind of a day as I kept dozing on and off for part of the afternoon while David was watching the latest Avengers movie for the umteenth time. We’ve just taken a lovely drive by the St-Lawrence river in a perfect Summer evening and we’ll catch an episode of The Great British Bake Off when we get home.

A very weird thing occured at one point today when David said “bye” to a friend who had called: our Google Home speaker said “Ok bye” out of the blue, without being spoken to. Has this happened to anyone before? I had heard of Alexa laughing spontaneously before, these things kind of freak me out.

Did you ever figure anything out? I did hear about the Alexa - thankfully ours has never done that - at least not when we've been at home!!! EEK!

We got back from the shore around 10 last night and I was totally unpacked by 11. I like to unpack as soon as we get home so I can let Mikes grandma know if we left anything behind. Our last day was just spent relaxing and just hanging out. This morning I have work and then after work we have a first birthday party for a former coworkers son.

Good afternoon friends!! Been a while since I've had a moment to check in , happy BERS!!!!!!! Today hubby and I broke out the fall decorations and lit our cinnamon spice candle, yum! The house looks so lovely with all the oranges & reds, I love it. Tonight we're having all the family over for dinner and dessert, it'll be around 9 of us, i'm not sure where i'll fit everyone lol. Hope everyone has a great rest of their long weekend!!

Merry Monday. Almost time to get back into the swing of things. Take the FIL out for lunch as it's his birthday. Have a few people coming over for a supper meeting because a holiday Monday was the only time the schedules would be open. So, the day will be spent scurrying around, cleaning, cooking, and enjoying company.

I've already transitioned into fall prep. Yesterday was cranberry pot roast dinner, and I've picked up some canned pumpkin. I'll make a pumpkin dessert for tonight. I just haven't figured out which yet. It'll come to me.

The pot roast is super simple too. In your slow cooker, sprinkle the bottom with a package of dry onion soup mix. Place your roast on top, sprinkle with salt and pepper, and then spread a can of cranberry sauce over the roast. I used whole cranberry sauce, but either will work. Add about 1/4 cup of water. Cover and cook on high for 6 hours, or low for 8. Once done, remove the roast to rest. Dissolve one tablespoon of cornstarch in water and add that to the roast drippings. Stir and continue cooking until thickened. Slice the roast and serve with the sauce. Heavenly and delicious.

We make almost the exact same thing, except with chicken breast! I bet it would be good with roast! The Amish make Cranberry Chicken for mom about once a month!

It was a hot weekend, and I'm still struggling to saw-up and haul off my recent broken pecan tree limb. I can't keep my saw running, and now my back is killing me. Ah, I'll get there.

Tomorrow is Jacob's 21st birthday. How in the world did we get here?!? He said all he wants is money to help him pay rent. Oh, how quickly the real world sneaks up on us LOL!

Happy Labor Day, Mmc!!!

I asked my aunt last week if she wanted to cook out today and she said no. She just wanted to take it easy. Then at 9 o’clock last night she called and said her neighbor had called and wanted to know what time lunch was today. So now we are cooking out, which of course, I was totally unprepared for. So it’s been a mad dash trying to get stuff ready this morning. On the bright side, Big Lots was stocking even more Christmas stuff when I stopped to get 2-liters this morning!!! I hope everyone has a great day!!!
