Just got home from work and back at it again tomorrow in the morning. Carolina had a bit of a rough time tonight when my mom wanted to get her ready for bed around 745. Carolina said it was still summer so it was too early for bed even though it was dark out . When she went to bed she wrinkled baby powder all over her room because she was bored and had nothing to do.
I’m sorry that Carolina had a tough time last night, hope that she adjusts to the seasonal / bed time change rather quickly. I’m sure it’s confusing for her.

Thank you @snowflake22. I am hoping once her school starts next week that it will be easier for her since she will be more tired

Morning MMC! Back to School here on this Pines Day. Just another small step in the early part of the Bers that starts to change everything. It's warm and humid out this morning. What else is new? Kept thinking yesterday was Monday so I'll probably think today is Tuesday...but it's Wednesday! Have a good Pines Day!

Good September Weekend Morning, Friends of the Holidays!

Yes, indeed!
August 2018 is in the books and has joined the immutable past, as we boldly move forward into the first of the 'bers.
And bear in mind, later this VERY MONTH, we will commence the Christmas Blossoms 2018 thread. (Get those cameras oiled up, Folks!)

Now, with that exhilarating lead-in, let us inspect today's numbers and check on our Milestone status.

Days to the Season: 73
Days to Christmas Day: 115

And the 100-DAY CHRISTMAS DAY WINDOW?
Well, that particular marker is just 15 days into the future.
TWO WEEKS from tomorrow!
(How can this be??)

Even though it is now September, Mother Nature is not yet finished with us as far as summer is concerned. The heat and humidity remain.
Fortunately, it is supposed to be a tad cooler over at the coast, for which we are just about to depart.
Our temperature reading is currently 75 degrees.

Have a Sensational Saturday and a Leisurely Labor Day Holiday Weekend, Everyone!
Thus, I leave you in the experienced, skilled, and highly capable hands of our tag-team guest counters Edge and Minta for the holiday break.
Christmas blossom thread start is always exciting !!!

I thought there would be a countdown to the 'Ber months on here last night...! I was out at a friend's apartment during that time, but I was a little concerned that I would be missing something! I guess we're only good for a couple real-time countdowns per year? There's nothing wrong with that, though, I'm greatly looking forward to one specific countdown in barely over two months time.

It feels great to say that.

A teacher friend/colleague of mine moved to the Philippines in December of last year. Why am I telling you this? Well, her husband's birthday is on September 1st. Why am I telling you this? Well, some people in North America think we are crazy for counting down to the Christmas Season and keeping Christmas in our hearts all year long... September 1st, in the Phillippines, signifies the beginning of the Christmas Season. I've heard it's a long one, but my friend posted this article today... I think it's something we should all experience at least once!

I think I will be moving soon ! That is fantastic !!!!

Welcome to September all! Yes, it's still technically summer, and the weather confirms it, but the journey into the cool days, warm sweaters, pumpkins, and leaf piles has begun. Applesauce oatmeal loaf has been started and I'll probably hit the farmer's market this weekend.

Good news, I start a new job this coming week. I'll be baking at a local supermarket full time. There will be early shifts, but I'll still hope to keep posting fairly regularly.

We're having a group of people from church coming over on Monday for a supper/meeting so I'll have to think of something to make. I've already picked up a nice roast, so that's in store. Maybe I'll be inspired at the market.
awesome job ! Congrats to you , have fun with it .

This turned out to be a lazy kind of a day as I kept dozing on and off for part of the afternoon while David was watching the latest Avengers movie for the umteenth time. We’ve just taken a lovely drive by the St-Lawrence river in a perfect Summer evening and we’ll catch an episode of The Great British Bake Off when we get home.

A very weird thing occured at one point today when David said “bye” to a friend who had called: our Google Home speaker said “Ok bye” out of the blue, without being spoken to. Has this happened to anyone before? I had heard of Alexa laughing spontaneously before, these things kind of freak me out.
I have had my phone (Google) occasionally say "what can I help you with" or "ok . I'll look that up for you" Always gives me a chuckle as it is always unexpected.

Good morning MMC ~
Merry Sunday!
Not too much going on here today, it will just be a day spent relaxing with my family. My oldest and youngest are both coming over. The girls and I will be going over the details of my oldest daughters bridal shower. We will be ordering the invitations as well, I have to get them in the mail soon. Eek, I wish time would slow down!
I hope everyone is well and has a wonderful day!!!
xx
i am looking forward to wedding planning soon as it looks like a wedding for my eldest soon to happen !

Merry Pines Day MMC ~
It’s going to be partly sunny today with highs near 85 degrees. I have to run to the pet store to pick up a couple of things. I also have to stop at the post office to mail out my youngest daughter & her fiancés engagement announcements.
Yesterday we were saddened to hear that my oldest daughters fiancés grandpa passed away at the age of 86. The wedding is just a few months away, I wish he could have been there to see his grandson marry my daughter. I picked up a couple of trays of food and brought it over to my future son in law’s family. I spent some time with them. I found out his grandpa was a very talented artist, I never knew that. The family has hundreds of his paintings and I was able to see some of them. I love that they have his artwork, I know they’ll cherish it.
I don’t really have too much else going on. I’m going to make penne ala vodka for dinner with mozzarella bread & a salad. If I feel up to it I will start to decorate for Autumn.
I hope everyone is well and has a wonderful day!
xx

Good morning .. finally got all the back to school shopping done yesterday and picked up a couple christmas gifts too :) today is being spent on filling up the freezer and pantry. Got a batch of red peppers going in the dehydrator, going to put a pork roast in the oven soon so I can bag up batches of pulled pork for the freezer and I have a bushel of fresh corn that I am going blanch, bag up and freeze for the winter and the holidays. Hope everyone has a great day.
you sound like me, canning, freezing etc to enjoy when the snow flys ! I love doing all that. Already have the pulled pork in the freezer. Lots of jams, pickles, red pepper jelly, peaches, pear compote etc etc done.

Hello all

Henry's team won the football game. We won 13-6. The whole team played well, and Henry scored our 1 point conversion on one of the touchdowns, and made some really important tackles on defense.

The Meg was a decent movie, nothing special but decent. It will not go down as a classic like the original Jaws.
congrats to Henrys team !!!:snowhappy

Merry Monday. Almost time to get back into the swing of things. Take the FIL out for lunch as it's his birthday. Have a few people coming over for a supper meeting because a holiday Monday was the only time the schedules would be open. So, the day will be spent scurrying around, cleaning, cooking, and enjoying company.

I've already transitioned into fall prep. Yesterday was cranberry pot roast dinner, and I've picked up some canned pumpkin. I'll make a pumpkin dessert for tonight. I just haven't figured out which yet. It'll come to me.

The pot roast is super simple too. In your slow cooker, sprinkle the bottom with a package of dry onion soup mix. Place your roast on top, sprinkle with salt and pepper, and then spread a can of cranberry sauce over the roast. I used whole cranberry sauce, but either will work. Add about 1/4 cup of water. Cover and cook on high for 6 hours, or low for 8. Once done, remove the roast to rest. Dissolve one tablespoon of cornstarch in water and add that to the roast drippings. Stir and continue cooking until thickened. Slice the roast and serve with the sauce. Heavenly and delicious.
sounds delicious !

Good Wednesday morning! After a little break from the humidity yesterday, it will be back with a vengeance today but it should be the last of it. Yesterday I spent roughly 5 hours deep cleaning and my arms were so sore (I had also done some weightlifting the day before) that I had trouble sleeping because any position I was in hurt. I'll go for a nice long walk with Loki this morning and I'll make supper before it gets too hot and then I'll just relax for the day. Have a great day eveyone!

Hope you find your wreath & your other missing things! xx I hope you get all good results from Gandfals tests today!! xx *prayers*
Enjoy your day ~ stay cool!

Adorable picture of your dog in a cap (I’m sorry if I’m mistaken and it is not your dog but adorable still). I hope everything went well at the vet for Gandalf. Sounds like progress was made with a new “lifestyle” over the last week. Sending positive thoughts your way SnowDog.

Thank yall for your prayers!!! They were heard today! Gandalf is home and resting... thank god it was not something serious like the vet thought.. but as soon as we made it home he got sick all over :( so we still have a problem but just don't know why... one big expensive mystery. It's tough not always getting answers. We're just going to keep managing the symptoms and hope he continues to improve!
Starting to see pumpkin spice things pop up everywhere and tons of new fall commercials on TV! All that we're waiting on now is for the weather to change.

Good Morning Everybody everywhere throughout the great MMC Nation!

Marching on in lock-step we are, headed toward that same destination we strive to reach every year. That most glorious of destinations, the name of which is on every tongue and need not here be stated.

So, let's take a look at our progress to date:
Days to the Season: 69
Days to Christmas Day: 111

Hmmm.....
Those numbers just look too low to be accurate, and yet......we also have this fact:
The 100-DAY CHRISTMAS DAY WINDOW is now only ELEVEN days away.
SINGLE DIGITS from the day after tomorrow!
(Now, that seems even more inaccurate......and yet.....)

Some rain yesterday only added to the humidity.
(Who needs a sauna when you can step right outside your front door and into a free one?)
The next three days will see us continue in the 90's before we dip down into the mid to upper 80's for the weekend.
Right now, we show 73 degrees on our back door thermometer and it's quite damp.

Hey! First 'Pine Day of the 'bers, Folks!
Carl is really starting to get into the fall frame of mind now, and it won't be long before our inn of choice will be transformed into pre-holiday stand-by mode.
(I can't wait!)
Hope to see as many of you there as possible this evening.

Until then, have a Wildly Wonderful Wednesday, Friends!
