We are under a blizzard warning here in Chicago!! The northwest suburbs are getting hammered right now and the storm is sliding east into the city. The winds are crazy. Be safe everyone in the area and don't go anywhere if you don't have to. Homemade chicken pot pie movies and storm watching.

Stay safe!!

Prayers that he stays safe. Thank you to him for his service!
Thank you! His boot camp is in Cape May so he's only about an hour and a half away from home right now.
Good morning ~
Happy Sunday!
So I tried to do a bit of decorating last night and Rocky is giving me the hardest time. He seems to be threated by everything and wants to attack whatever I take out. To say it’s frustrating is an understatement but he’s still a puppy so I’m trying to be patient with him. We need to call a trainer in, I’m just not sure I can get in to that before my daughters wedding. The wedding preparations have been so time consuming. I will definitely have a trainer come to the house right after the wedding. For now I guess I’ll scatter some Christmas decorations around the house that are out of Rocky’s reach lol. I’m not even sure if I can put a tree up this year :( So my plans for today will be a bit of decorating and I will be working on the laundry. I’m going to start a pot of sauce as soon as I finish my cup of coffee, dinner will be raviolis. That’s about it for me. I hope everyone is well and has a wonderful day!
xx
Have a great day! I hope Rocky will let you put a tree up
Good Morning MMC !

things are crazy here with less than a week to the wedding. But everything is falling into place. Main items are of course the decorating of the hall and the church, but we have lots of volunteers for that so it hopefully will go smoothly.

Today we have a pastor and his family coming in to preach this morning that may become our new pastor. Will know after the votes are in this evening. I have had opportunity to listen to him online and what I hear is impressive. Looking forward to meeting him and his family today.

Our company Christmas party is tonight, but I will only be popping in for awhile after the meal as the vote at church will not be over till around 7pm.

Hope you all have a fantastic day !!
Have a great day!
Haven't check in since Thanksgiving morning...

Thanksgiving was all that I hoped it would be. Family time is what my heart desires and I got plenty of it. My grandmother, who is 86, and I got to sit and visit for a good, solid two hours. We both got tickled because Bambina kept telling me to quit yelling at her (my Nanny doesn't hear too well after 86 years). I wasn't yelling, but I did have to raise my voice for her to hear me. The meal...well, it was the best we have made in my 41 years of living. Simply wonderful.

Doc and I got up Black Friday and did some serious shopping. After a couple of hours, I ended up in Barnes and Noble reading. It was such a good time and we got some pretty serious deals. We upgraded our phones and Target gave each of us a $250 gift card and two coupons that give us 20% off of a shopping trip. Doc was strategizing on how to make the best use of those, but she got terribly sick on Friday night and it continued through yesterday. If she doesn't improve today, I'm going to make her go to urgent care.

Other than that, cooking and some outside work are on the agenda for today. It is supposed to be in the low 60's here and this is the last pretty day (and warm) on the 10 day forecast. I'm going to make sure I enjoy it!
Sounds like you had a good weeknd! I hope Doc feels better
Happy Sunday MMC! Thanks so much for all the prayers for my Dad. He was discharged from the hospital and we will have the results of his liver biopsy on Wednesday.
Today we are putting up the tree and my daughter has an indoor soccer game. Hope you all have a great day!
Still prayers coming for your dad

Bummer, tonight’s the last night of my 5 day break from work! It always seems, that when you get to the end of the little reprieve you get, you realize it and say to yourself, “what, I gotta go back to work already? Where did the time go?”

I’m telling you, I really feel like calling out tomorrow because I am dreading tomorrow’s Monday morning office meeting in the conference room. The bosses were all away last Tuesday, and two of the employees in the office, got into a really nasty verbal argument to the point that it was becoming dangerously close to them getting into trading blows with each other. It then also simmered all the way into Wednesday. I got sick of it and left the office early. Both of them tried separately for me to take their sides and I just want to keep out of it.

However, if I am asked by the owners, I will say the truth because one was clearly the instigator and was 100% rude, obnoxious, nasty and vulgar to the other one. It’s sad, to have that in the office, it just completely destroys the moral and productivity for the rest of the day. Yup, really dreading tomorrow when they are both sitting at the same table.

Well, we spent the day in the ER with Doc. Her UTI is pretty bad and they debated keeping her due to dehydration. After two IV's with antibiotics and medicine to take care of the upset stomach, they decided to send us home. She got in about 6 good hours of sleep at the hospital. She lost 12 pounds since all of this started on Wednesday, but really all of that weight loss is since Friday when she started getting sick. I really feel like she is on the mend, now.

Back to the real world tomorrow. Yall have a great day!

Coach I hope that she truly is on the mend and this completely goes away for her. Thinking about you and your family my friend.

Carried out my annual tradition yesterday of sneaking into my office over Thanksgiving weekend and decorating my desk area. Folks enjoy seeing that when they come in on Monday morning.

Busy busy busy with various projects here.

How nice! That will be a nice refreshing Christmas morning they will be coming into fro a Monday morning. I think I need to do something like that (put some Christmas Decorations up), maybe it will bring some Christmas cheer into the office.

That’s pretty wild, a blizzard! Sounds like a great night for hot cocoa and Christmas movies!!

The halls of Bear Manor (UK) were decked with boughs of Holly (flllaallallallalaaa), the wrought-iron spiral staircase, (dubbed the "Twistmas Tree"), was tidily strewn with a sparkly LED chain, the world's smallest christmas tree was erected (dubbed the "toilet brush"), and decorated with various trinkets and other frippery - AND all this was done with a backdrop of 80s British Chrimbo ch33ze. Mrs Bear and I then settled down to some intense games of chess, where I was thrashed into check-mate very often. Wonderful to see all the British shops brimming over with Yuletide frivolity.

Next up to decorate this weekend will be Bear Chalet (CH).

Good morning MMC!
We’re converting from oil to gas heat so I’m going to be stuck in the house the next couple of days while the workers are here. I’m going to do some more decorating today since I can’t go out. I’m going to attempt to put up a tree, fingers crossed this puppy behaves! Other than that I will be working on the laundry and I may do some Cyber Monday shopping. I’m also going to make a big pot of chicken soup for dinner. I hope everyone is well and has a great day!
xx

Good Monday morning! It’s foggy this morning and we’ll get more rain today, which will turn into snow overnight. It’s my last day off before going back to work. A week off is too short. We put up the tree this weekend but with much fewer lights than usual, as David’s shoulder hurts when he keeps his arm up for a while (and I’m unable to string the lights on top by myself). I may add more ornaments today, still undecided. Hope everyone will have a great start to the week.

Sadly, they decos won't be lit up when most people arrive because I'll be late getting in today. Both cars are in the shop (one due to an accident, the other because of a recall plus a check-engine light), and we're juggling one rental car between us, plus Mr. has to make it to a doctor's appointment this morning. Things are doggone complex right now. I hope they'll settle down quickly.

Lol!! I just need to rent 2 apartments. The one bedroom next to me has vaulted ceilings in the living/dining room.

There you go; simple really - hee hee. -santa dance-

I remember one year during a bad storm; we wound up with a "brown out" (power loss wasn't everywhere just the hydro grid near the school yard behind our house).

We lit candles and were making shadow figures on the walls trying to make the best of it and then I started singing a song that was more annoying to my family than "The Song that Never Ends".

I sang it with as much of a Southern accent as I could muster - drove everyone crazy - I earned a silver dollar for keeping quiet for 10 minutes.

Hope you got to watch your movies.

Our the Old Fashioned Downtown Christmas Walk is coming up this Friday; if the weather cooperates; I'll be there.

It will be the 30th anniversary of this merry event; I'm so pleased that our city has never gotten hit by Humbug of referring to it as "Christmas", 'cause once you light up the downtown tree; you can't call it a "holiday tree" otherwise, they'd leave it up all year and decorate it for other holiday events.

The Town Crier announces the arrival of "the Christmas Season"; lots of people dress up in "Dickens-like" clothes if they have them. They have two horses providing wagon rides from the tree to the end of the street (totally blocked off so people can stroll safely - must watch for horse dropping though - haha - and pick up another set of passengers to bring back in the other direction.
Santa and Mrs. Claus seated by the tree to chat with the children, carolers on every corner, shops with good deals, baked goodies, cider and hot chocolate, roasted chestnuts - icky, Beaver Tails (no not of the animal variety) are offered in most places, 22 Wing & the Salvation Army Bands playing, running into people you haven't seen in a decade; it's usually rather merry.

Might go with a co-worker and her daughter; could be a bit lonely without my mom, but I'm sure I'll feel her close as I explore a few spots that she and I enjoyed together over the years.
