Good afternoon all! Not much going on here. I have my niece again today and DH is working, so we're just chilling and relaxing. I'm drinking coffee and getting caught up here with all of you.
So, as far the car went, I think I mentioned to you all the other day (I apologize if I didn't) my BIL is a car salesman at a local Audi, VW, and Toyota dealership. I have a nice car right now - a 2016 Honda Pilot, but it's bigger than what we need - we should have never bought a third row vehicle (again - don't ask), but as the family gets bigger, we thought we would want it with 2 kids, 2 dogs and Honda talked us in to it. It was obviously an expensive vehicle, more than I would like to share with you all. LOL. It wasn't brand new, but close enough. We could afford the payments, but to make it a little more affordable for us, they drug the loan out a little longer than I had hoped for and talked my husband in to. Anyway, I was involved in a 3 car accident last winter and my damage was $11,000 worth. You wouldn't even notice to this day that anything is wrong with the car, but because of so, that's really brought the worth down on the car and with this loan, we weren't ever going to get a head above water of this car. We wanted to get rid of this car, while we could. As a lot of you had saw the other day, the great idea our friend had. My gracious BIL sat almost all day yesterday, ran everyday deal, way, what have you, leasing (which I put almost 20,000 miles on my car a year, so it had be a high mileage lease, so even with the cheapest kind of car they had, we were talking a $600-700/month car payment and that is just mine. I don't think so!!! He even did a lease on Audi - I'm hoping just to be funny - if not, he's completely nuts and my payment would have be $850-$1000 a month. He's just insane.) Anyway, he worked for hours, looking at Toyotas, VW, and Audi's. He was looking at putting me in to a Toyota RAV4, but the owner was there and said if I was looking staying in between size vehicles, he really recommends that I get the VW Tiguan. It is made by Audi - we are getting the name, just like the Acura I was looking at used by Honda, but not paying the price and still getting the quality. He said it's a wonderful family vehicle and once I sit inside the car, I'm going to absolutely fall in love with it and it drives beautiful, plus it's $100 a month cheaper than Toyota, for it being owned by Audi. He said he yes wants to make money and wants to sell us a nice car, but also wants us to make a good decision, something that is good for our family and that is economical and not going to strap us down, which I really appreciated. I felt like they treated us very well. Well, he was right - DH and I sat in the car - DH took it on the road and I drove it around at least in the parking lot and we are absolutely in the love with the car. They offered more on both of cars then the other place was, so we sold them both of cars and bought me a brand new car. We got a 2019 VW Tiguan (which is an AWD SUV) and DH then will go back in June and lease his first ever truck and his first ever brand new vehicle as well - we always both have had used cars. We're both really excited for ourselves. We started our family young, 23 and got married at 22, built our house at the same age, and just have worked really hard, so I am just happy and proud for us, knowing it's paying off. It really helped too that VW offers discounts to all first responders, nurses, and military. Just in case any of you are ever looking!
Anyway - thanks for putting up with my lengthy car discussions the past couple of days!
Nothing else planned really for today. I am relaxing pretty much, tying up some odds and ends around the house, and getting dinner ready here in a little bit. DD has group competition baton this evening, which is 2 hours long, but she is feeling a lot better, so I think keeping her home yesterday did help. Thank you all so much for the prayers!
Hope you're all having a great day!
