Good morning all! I’m bummed I missed Milestone Day yesterday, but I worked and it was one of those days in the ER that nurses just don’t like to talk about. It was a rough one for the whole entire clinical staff and for the family involved. My heart goes out for them. I work today, but this is the last day I work before vacation, then I’m off for 11 days. I’m looking forward to it!

Hope you all have a blessed Sunday!

Good morning all

Well the rain is back today. Little going on today really. I have a little league football meeting this evening. Other than that, I will do some laundry, relax, listen to some music (yes, probably some Christmas music).

My wife and I will probably sit down and plan a mini-cation too. We want to take a few days and go to Cleveland and then Detroit. We keep saying we are going to plan it, but we keep not planning it. LOL If we keep only talking about it we will run out of vacationable summer.

I hope everyone has a great Sunday!

Prayers of thanks for all of those hero's who work in the ER. At times it must be horrifying. God bless them all.

On a lighter note, have a safe and wonderful vacation.

Having family members working in similar lines of work; I get that.

Takes a tough shell to keep at it with smiles for the next patient as if everything is okay and to shelf your emotions until you are able to let go.

Hope you have lots of fun and family time on your vacation.

Good Merry Morning,

Well, I pulled it off! My husband would have been so pleased with how the evening of Celebration turned out. There were four different table themes including the red check style (repeated twice), lemon drops, Tiki Time, Fruits of Summer (at the food table), gold (x2) & white (x2) - on the table were games and fidget toys, gum, Kleenex with messages, some had a centerpiece. The Memorial table turned out great.

We never got through a quarter of the music I brought that was playing in the background while people were conversing with each other and some sharing stories at the table and others just catching up.

While people were eating, I played the special birthday video that #1 son made for his 70th birthday as a tribute had a few people in tears and others just enjoyed watching him grow up and become a father and grandfather.

The food - I kept worrying that I wouldn't have enough; there was so much variety to satisfy every appetite and the desserts were also in abundance, plus there was a candy table with grab bags to fill and I brought plastic trays and some people filled them with leftovers.
I have several trays unused that I will drop off at the Crisis Centre this morning.

There were roughly 50 of the 60 people I expected who turned out and I shared a story about his life and two of them were Christmas related. Holding an adorable shelf sitting Elf playing a trumpet helped me feel like my merry family was present in spirit and it gave me strength and comfort to get through it with only a mild moment at the beginning when for a moment as I mentioned Gary's name and thanking people for joining us that I got a bit choked up and then set sail for some shared sentiment and laughter.

A few other stories were shared by others that gathered and the biggest surprise of all was to learn that a co-worker of mine had an older Aunt (who passed away) who was married to my husband's brother so we're actually related.

The next one is in two weeks and it will be a bit more intimate with family members and a true back yard BBQ style family picnic.

I think the toughest part for me is going to happen this morning when #1 son comes to take his car home with him. That will be a significant moment

because it truly means he is gone and not requiring the car anymore; plus it was my first set of wheels. At least I get to visit it whenever I want.

Off to a PowWow at Noon and then just relax for the late afternoon and evening with the cat (may have to do some work from home for a bit) and going to make lasagna for dinner and a few lunches during the week.

+m Keep a merry thought in your head! -surprise-

{{{HUGS}}}
Have fun at the PowWow! I haven't been to one since I was in school. The last one I went to, the arbor was made with cedar boughs from our trees which I thought was so cool.

Good Saturday evening! What a perfect Summer day to start off my 9-day staycation. I put some laundry out to dry this morning, we went to our favourite chocolaterie for some treats, I took an afternoon nap, we took Loki out to a new dog park where he ran after his favourite orange ball until he had no energy left and now we're about to watch a movie. Hope everyone has enjoyed this milestone day.

That sounds like the perfect first day of staycation, Martine! I hope all the rest of the days are successfully better!

God bless you, Sugar! I'll be praying for the family you mentioned and for your co-workers. {{{HUGS}}}

Detroit has really been having a renaissance of late! I hope you are able to take your mini-cation!!

I have been to Detroit a couple of times over the last couple of years. Downtown is really nice again. Our plan this time is to go back to the Ford museum. They have a big Star Trek exhibit we want to see.

Cleveland is also great downtown. I really like Cleveland a lot, there is a lot to do and see downtown especially.

God bless you and thank you for serving that family and every family that comes thru your doors. I can't be easy. But I sure do appreciate everyone in the health care profession.

Big day, AMD. We are here for you. I know he would be so proud. Thinking of you tonight!

Happy 2nd Sunday of June MMC!
I am filling in for Crown this fine Sunday morning. Our area has another beautiful day in store for us. We're lucky. It's going to rain Monday into Tuesday so our timing was perfect to have nice weekend weather. Now let's take a look at the stats coming off that HUGE milestone yesterday.

Days to the Season: 157
Days to Christmas Day: 199

Ladies and Gents, it's my honor to be the first to announce that we will not see anything higher than a "1s" in either of our counts until after Christmas 2019! Look at double 1s now. I'll save the next milestone for Crown to discuss upon his return on Monday.

Have a Super Sunday "1s" fans!

Happy double days of 1s Edge! Thanks for sharing the good news today!!

As a chaplain (in a retirement community) and the wife of a chaplain (formerly trauma 1 hospital and now hospice), I have those days myself. I’m always glad for good coworkers and good time off to renew. Enjoy those 11 days!!! You’ve earned them for sure.
