Christmas Countdown - 2019

Good afternoon everyone!
I'm on my first day of no work for ten days. Loving it.

Michelle will be off all next week also.
We'll have more of a staycation than a vacation.

But the Georgia National Fair (Just a couple miles up the road) coincides with our time off, so we'll end up there several days I'm sure.

I'm adjusting to life on my own and smile at the little things that spell freedom like it doesn't truly matter to me from what end I retrieve the toilet paper as long as it's 3-ply. Having full control of the TV remote, playing my Christmas tunes whenever I feel like it, controlling the climate of the car and my home. Not having to stress about whether or not he'll be in bed, at the dining room table or on the floor when I walk through the door offers some relief.

The other day, when I was giving O'Malley his raking rub, he headed down to the bedroom and appeared to be looking for Gary, who always gave him the hearty rubs, I was more of the gentle stroker. Guess I haven't copied his technique yet.

O'Malley is also adjusting, but now and then looks for him. I wonder if he still smells him in the air; I still have Gary's robe hanging from the bedroom closet. I gave quite a few of his clothes away to the Crisis Centre and a few fancy suit jackets to a friend for her son to wear, but I haven't gone through his man's bureau yet. I want to throw that thing out and replace it with something new; it's in rough shape. It's older than I am.

The moral support through thoughts and prayers and putting up with my shares from time to time; help with the healing and keep him on my mind in a healthy way.

The last while I've been missing my mom plenty; this is our favourite time of year.

Enjoy it; I often take staycations with day trips here and there. I find them relaxing.

This kind of heat in October is incredible.
We hit 96 yesterday for the second day in a row and the humidit was up, too. Really felt like we were back in August.
Dry and parched as well. The grass looks like it's suffering.
By the weekend though, it could be a good 20 degrees cooler.
Today has started off here at 73 degrees.

Well, here it is Family Fun Fair day in my merry neck of the woods.

The weather will be chilly in the morning, but warming up to 12/53 in the afternoon. Sunny with fluffy clouds expected later so it will make for a nice leisurely drive to nowhere in particular once we get the venue back in order.

O'Malley cat tried to wake me up at 3:30 again, but I threatened him with the water bottle, showed him where his dry kibble was and went back to bed. He let me sleep until 5:15. Yay!

Happy Spooky October Weekend MMC! Wow it's cold out! It's in the 30s this morning. That really hits you the first time. A little too cold for early October but it's balancing off the warm/hot weather we had the last couple of weeks. Should be a nice day getting up close to 60 with sunshine. Cool weather but still comfortable. Saturdays are best! Have a great Spooky October Weekend!

Thank GOODNESS it’s in the low 50s this AM. Opening up the apartment and letting the trapped heat from days in the upper 90s out. What a ride the weather has been this week!! Weatherman says the 90s are over in our neck of the woods and fall-like weather is here to stay! Hooray!!!! Now I’m really ready for some cider and some apple picking (next weekend!) and to switch out my closet-sure signs fall is finally here!!!

GM MMC! Happy Saturday! We are leaving for RI around 11:30 so I am just enjoying some coffee and watching a little tv. It is chilly out there for sure...it was really cold in our downstairs so I turned the heat on just to take out the chill..usually I wait until Nov 1st. Hope you all have a great day!

Well, ready or not, it's here.

Days to the Season: 39
Days to Christmas Day: 81

The DAY AFTER TOMORROW, we will reach the 90 PERCENT point to the Season and enter the above-mentioned Home Stretch.
(How did we get so far along so fast??)

Last day of 90's heat yesterday.
Today will be much cooler with highs in the low 70's.
No rain in the forecast either, but that's not good as we are abnormally dry here, bordering on drought conditions.
Our weekend-commencing temperature reading here in central NC is a suddenly refreshing 61 degrees.

Good Morning ... Finally a nice brisk and chilly fall morning! Been real busy lately between work, home, son's marching band schedule and our daughter turned 18 earlier this week so we had a family party at the house. Heading out in a little while for another marching band competition today which will keep us out until late tonight. Going to need to layer up but that's OK, I would rather layer up than suffer in the heat and high humidity. Have a great Day!
