Afternoon MMC! Our weather has been horrible today, wind howling and 10 minute blizzards passing through. We have a weather alert unti 10 a.m. tomorrow. I am now down to 1 last Christmas cookie to bake and thats it for the season.

Our weather was okay; sunny - but sooo cold. Only -21, but it felt bitterly cold - not sure what the windchill was. I plugged my car in when I got home; the guys at the shop left my temps on Fahrenheit; it was at -2.

Merry Wednesday everyone. I've been trying to recuperate from my lens implant. I'm exhausted.

Ace is begging me to go to the Pines tonight and he said he'd go without me if I'm sleeping. I'm sure he just wants some fired twinkies or, maybe, he wants to meet O'Malley. He favors cats over other dogs....funny little guy.

He just came in and he's dressed and ready for tonight. He's expecting cold weather.

Glad everything went well for you; you're posting so that must be a good sign. Bring Ace with you; the Inn is heated; you'll be toasty warm and there are a few fireplaces if you need extra comfort.

Hello all! Can't believe how many days it's been since I've checked. This is the time of the year I want to be here everyday, but it's also the time of the year I'm so incredibly busy. I've been working overtime and I've been busy (like I know a lot of you are), with family get togethers, trying to get ready for Christmas, lets minute prep, baking cookies - we've baked 60 or so dozen so far, candy, candy, fudge, Chex mix, and sugar pecans. I've been whooped lately! We've also had three nurses quit in the ER just this week and we were already two short, so it's making for some more added stress for the ones, including myself who still work there and give extra of ourselves. I hope you're all well and ready for the big day! Can't believe we're just one week away! It's so exciting!

My husband kept saying I'd make a great nurse, but honestly I don't think I would. 10-12 hours and overnight hours just doesn't work with rhythm. When I left group homes and treatments centres for day time work; I had more energy.

We miss you.

Hey! ONE WEEK TO GO!
(And I do mean precisely one week.)

But, lt's check the chart to be certain:
Days to Christmas Day: 7
Yep. It's true. It's really true!!

Wonderfully warm yesterday. So warm only a very light jacket was needed for most of the day, if even that.
The down side? Plenty of rain.
Now this morning is bright, clear and sunny but we begin today at 36 degrees and will not get out of the 40's all day.
Tonight, and for the succeeding two, we will have lows in the 20's, as Mother Nature gives us a little taste of pending winter.

But, what else is pending?
I think you know!
Tonight is the very last Wednesday open house at the 'Pines before Christmas.
(Carl of course is giving the staff Christmas Day off so this will be the last pre-Christmas shindig at our inn of choice.)
Our activities director and his pal O'Malley the cat have a slam-bang finish planned, the details of which have been kept under (Christmas) wraps. But it's bound to be fun, festive, and very, very seasonal!
So come, enjoy, get a box of take-out red and green frosted fired twinkies and enjoy yourselves to the hilt!

Until that time then, you guys have a Wildly Wonderful Wednesday, OK?

The last festive shindig at the Pines was wonderful!

Seems like lots of members brought their pets and none of them got into any fights; most of them curled up together by the beautifully decorated and lit fireplaces around the Inn.

The smorgasbord turkey, ham, veggie dishes and lasagna was delicious.

I went for Carl's salted caramel hot chocolate with mini marshmallows and had a sliver of each kind of pie with whipped cream and candy bark sprinkles. Decadent? Yes.

So yummylicious

Once again I was invited to join Carl the camel and O'Malley cat for entertainment and thankfully Carl arranged for the lyrics to be displayed so y'all could sing along.

Carl outdid himself on the decorations and the fired twinkies and topped it off with a take away gift for everyone and Santa himself made an appearance to hand them out as we departed.

'Tis Thursday; the weekend is in sight.

I only have five things to accomplish in two days before I can truly relax during my two-week Christmas break.

No problem; I can get it done.

Had a decent sleep and O'Malley tried to wake me at 3:30, but left me alone until I got up on my own forty minutes later.

Good Thursday morning! It is currently -32°C/-25°F with the windchill factor. Wish I could just stay in and stay warm but I have a medical appointment this morning and Loki does need to go out at some point to do his business, but we’ll wait a bit for that.

I’ll be spending the day cooking and baking, as my father and brother are coming over tonight. And if I have any spare time left, I’ll wrap a couple of presents for our friends’ kids.

Happy Closing In On Christmas MMC! Tick tock we're running low on time aren't we? I still have some wrapping to do but will have plenty of time tonight through Sunday with tons of Christmas shows galore. That's all my plans are these next 4-5 evenings leading up to Christmas Eve. Yes sir, there it is in black and white. UNDER A WEEK to go, now!

Cold weather is back, and a full coat was needed all day yesterday in substitution for the light jacket I was able to wear on Tuesday.
Today will be cold also, a near carbon copy of yesterday but tomorrow should be about 10 degrees warmer.
Our current outside thermometer reading is a cold 29 degrees here in the capital city.

We have our company party tonight, and all I can think about is how much work I have to do before then LOL. We're doing a catered dinner, then a group is bringing in roulette, blackjack and other gambling tables for a night of (faux) gambling. They give us $10,000 each in fake money to gamble with. It's lots of fun!

Hi everyone! Went back to the doctor today as I am still sick and very run down from all of this coughing (it started 12/05. Pretty much took my whole month of December from me!) I am still on an antibiotic but Dr. believes we have killed all infection and the rest is just viral. But, due to my other health issues, she wants me to do a round of steroids. I HATE steroids. But I understand why she wants me to have them and I will take them as I am told. The only benefit from them is they give me energy which I can definitely use since I have been so tired and run down this month. I am behind on everything! And, it means I can definitely go to the Nutcracker Ballet this week as planned with my husband which is one of my favorite parts of Christmas! I hope everyone has a wonderful and safe Wednesday! See you all at the Pines!

Merry Thursday!
Windy and chilly this morning. We’re currently at 18 degrees but will warm up to 25. I’m doing some shopping for myself today, I’m looking for a Christmas outfit. I have to grab a couple of gift cards while I’m out as well. Other than that I will be working on my daily chores. Dinner will be pork chops stuffed with spinach & cheese and roasted potatoes. That’s about it for me. I hope everyone is well and has a wonderful day!!!
