Do you think we'll get THREE days of Christmas in July??? Sat, Sun, and Mon (since Mon is the 25??)

Let's hope so!!!!

That's what I am hoping for but I am not sure we will get it. I would think that they would have Valerie on more than just the one day if they were going to have 3 days worth of Christmas in July. I wish Bethlehem lights would have a schedule of when they are going to be on QVC on their website because that would definitely let us know.

Hello again, folks ... I tried to keep up with the Countdown via Tapatalk on my iPod while I was away. gabulldawg, I'm happy to hear you're looking forward to becoming a first-time father! Please keep us posted. Bradmac, I'm so sorry to hear about Ben. We still miss Mr.'s old canine friend Chelsea. We have photo-ornaments of our departed pets to hang on the Christmas tree.

We spent a few days back home where I grew up, taking care of some family business, enjoying a couple of minor-league baseball games and a fireworks display, eating delicious fried chicken, spending an afternoon at the horse races, and visiting with my sweet old aunts. Before I left, I was unhappy to hear that a soft-serve ice cream stand that has been there forever had closed. But when we drove by it, it had been completely rebuilt, there was a new sign, and a notice that said "Opening Monday"! So we were there to enjoy their new grand opening---and the soft-serve is the same as ever. Not like other things back home. So much development has taken place since I moved away that I got lost a few miles from my hometown. We stopped at a new shopping center for some lunch, and I couldn't find my way back to the road I was looking for---no landmarks or roads I recognized. I finally blundered back onto the right road, feeling very strange. Yet in other parts of the county, things were just the same. I think I know what they mean when they say "You can't go home again."

Note to RJD: We found some 12-packs of RC Cola there and bought one, but it was kinda stale-tasting, not like the RC from Alabama. I think there's a conspiracy to keep all the good, fresh RC in the Deep South ...

I'm home today getting caught up with laundry and other things ... back to work tomorrow.

I know how scary it is when a parent is ill or has to have surgery. Your dad and your family are certainly in my prayers xo As far as I know, the surgery your dad is going to have, my father had done on both sides at once........and he was in his late 70s at the time. He did just fine and lived many years after that !! xo Big (((((HUGS)))))

Wow...hearing that makes me feel a lot better!! We're hoping it's not something bad but you never know...

BTW, I love your signature picture! Pooping little polar bears...how hilarious and cute! =p

Congratulations to Kandice!!!!!!! My niece refuses to ride her bike without the training wheels. We have been trying to teach her for 2 years and she just won't do it.

kids are funny like that sometimes....she kinda refused to do it the entire time too....and switch....suddenly today she wanted them off......and off she went!!!

Good afternoon, everyone. It is good to see many of you here. We have definitely missed some of you while you were gone. GBD, when you go to Bosnia, let me know your address. My students and I can send you some cards when we get back to school in August. We have done that for the past three years. In fact, the mail has always seemed to arrive in a timely manner, believe it or not! It is just barely warm here today, but it is supposed to get hotter and hotter. Our summer temps are always well over 100 degrees. Even if it is a dry heat, I hate it!!! The only good thing is I can always go work in my classroom and use the air conditioner there to keep cool!! Not that I am not cool, mind you!!! Brad, I just cannot get you and Ben out of my mind. I loved the picture you shared. If you really want some tears to come to your eyes, I suggest you listen to Walter Brennan sing Old Shep and watch Old Yeller. I went to see Old Yeller at the theater and had to keep going back and back and back, even though I bawled like a baby!!! It is so hard to lose a furbaby. When you think about the great life you provided him and the total love he provided you, may you always be comforted by these precious memories! One time, we five kids witnessed our dog being killed on the road just as we waited on the school bus one morning. I honestly thought I would NEVER get over that!!! I still tear up and it's been over 50 years!!! I hope to be on later this evening! Talk to you later!

Ugh, AWFUL news story from a few towns over. 9 year old girl murdered. What a scary world we live in. I can't even read the details. It makes me just want to hold my kids tight and never let them go.

We're watching A Charlie Brown Christmas to try to get my mind off this. I am praying her parents can find some peace someday. They have a suspect in custody. Ugh.

Where did this happen? I live about an hour and a half west of Philly...I haven't heard this story on my local news here, so I am just curious where it is. What a horrible sounding story! :(

I cut the lawn today and in between that....Kandice learned how to ride her bike....without those aids on the side of the backtire.....she was so proud, I can telll ya....and I was mighty proud too

Congrats to you and Kandice! I remember what it was like the first time I rode my bike without training wheels. I felt like I was invincible! :)

This was in Souderton, Montgomery County. I'm in Lansdale - how about you?

When Wayne and I got together he said he wasn't a "cat" person but he never had one. He changed his mind once we got together and got a cat. Charlie the cat has quite a personality! He is about 5 or 6 years old. Charlie really loves Wayne and "talks" to him all the time. It is really sweet to watch a cat talk, "meow meow"!

We have since adopted, Gary. He is a cool cat as well.

Sometimes I find Wayne on the front porch visiting with the stray cats that hang outside our house.

They have an awesome personality!

I think Wayne is a cat person now!

Brad, you might become one someday. He he!
(p.s. I know you were kidding.)

I LOVE that picture! I would totally take that cat home. :)

I feel Travis is going through the same thing Wayne did. He has a big dog and never had cats, so when I brought Sangria into his house, I wasn't sure what to expect. Now he picks her up all the time, talks to her (my cat is a BIG talker, meows all the time!), and she wakes HIM up in the middle of the night when she wants to be fed!

I was thinking the same thing! I love to write and wouldn't mind keeping someone up to date on the Countdown! =p

I'll have to look that up...how horrible.

I live in York, the west part of the city. I go to King of Prussia whenever I can because I just love that mall. Are you near there? Can't say I've ever heard of Lansdale. :(

Ohh yes, we're close! About 15-20 min away! I love the craziness of KOP around Christmas! :)

I'll miss my old friend dearly. I have to believe he's now happy and young, and waiting to see me again. You've been a good boy, Big Ben, and I love you.
Brad, be assured that Ben is hanging out up there on the Lassie Wing with my pal Skipper in the capable hands of Mr. Green Jeans!

Thanks, Jon. Glad you're ok!

spring cleaning would not be so hard if I did not rearrange everything while doing it! But, it is looking clean and fresh in here and the living room is going to look fantastic the way it is set up with the Christmas tree and new fireplace screen!!
