Christmas Countdown - 2011

I just get through the summer by telling myself the days are getting shorter daily and soon, the leaves will be turning and the chill will be back in the air - looove that feeling!

There is nothing better than a fall afternoon at the park with my kids and then coming home for some cookies and making a nice, cozy meal...

We now begin the trip back "into the dark" as Binger once called it. I'm not a huge fan of summer either due to the heat, but you can't have Fall, unless you pass throuogh Summer...

I am not a big fan of summer (do not like the heat) but I do look forward to camping, harvesting from my mini garden, long walks in the woods, fresh fruits and.....
half way to Christmas!!!! :dance:


Now to get my son out behind the lawn mower!

I agree with all of this (except walking in the woods. Too many rattlesnakes out there this time of year!). I can't stand the heat, but I LOVE the fresh vegetables and extended vacations with my family.

The return to repose.
The return to long winter's naps!

But I'm awake this morning and marveling at how far down our count has drifted:
Days to the Season: 145
Days to Christmas Day: 187
Five -- count 'em -- FIVE measly days until the fifty percent mark to Christmas.
Unreal!

The birds are singing outside my window this morning.
They better enjoy the mid-70's we are at now while they can since they'll have to take shelter this afternoon and tomorrow when the weather service says we could reach close to 100 degrees with a heat index of 105!
(Enough to melt the feathers right off their little wings!)
And it's only the first day of Summer!

With that heated thought, you try to have a Terrific Tuesday and keep your cool somehow!

Overcast morning and the birds are very quiet. Supposed to be storms coming today - I hope they aren't severe! Getting ready to head out to the Amish store. There are a few other shops I am going to browse for store stock - should be a fun day.
