I never menetioned it on here before but my niece in seattle has been battling juvenile idiopathic arthritis for the last year and an half.

Praying for your niece! That would be so hard for a 7 year-old to deal with - what courage she has! God Bless her.

I think I will make cookies with the kids and maybe have a nice dinner...of course before and in between football games I will have on QVC and will be listening to Christmas music all day!

We've been busy, busy, busy around here. Nancy's mom had back surgery last week and is still down, and now her dad is very sick with a urinary tract infection. He had to be hospitalized yesterday, and Nancy stayed with him last night.

Brad - I know I am a few days behind, so I apologize for that...but wishing good health for your in-laws. Saying a prayer for them!

Good morning! Happy Friday!!! Happy 1st day of fall!! Oh man, I missed the pines & I missed Thirsty Thursday this week BUT I have a new refrigerator & a new oven...and just you wait til I'm baking up all them tasty treats to bring to the Pines this Christmas! :grin: I had the greatest day off work yesterday! My hubby was working & do you know how long it's been since I have had a day off by myself? A LOOOONG time! Usually if I take off work it is to go somewhere, or we have plans. I had a day off for no reason (other than my new appliances being delivered) & it was AWESOME! But it left me wanting another day off! Ha ha!

I'm trying a new experiment for this Christmas. I have a recipe book of "making liquor for gifts" - most of the recipes are either fruity or creamy like for coffee. I made a Cherry Liquor. You put 1/2 lb. bing cherries in bottom of wide mouth quart jar, add 1/2 lb. sugar, & fill the rest with 2 C. vodka, put lid on jar - no stirring or shaking. Just let it sit undisturbed for 3 months. Mine will be ready Dec. 21st - a red drink for Chrsitmas! I'm excited to see how it turns out! :lol:

Also yesterday I made a recipe from the (Paula) Deen Brothers Holiday magazine. Spicy Cheese Taco Balls. They are meatballs. We are going to have them at the lake this weekend! AND I made a big pot of Ham & Veggie soup yesterday. WOW is it tasty! AND I listened to some Christmas music yesterday too while hanging out at home & putting up a few fall decorations!

Ok, enough rambling from me!! I hope you all have a fun weekend planned!!!

Im jealous you have a new oven! I hope you enjoy it and Im glad you had a nice day off all to yourself! Im with you.. I cant remember the last time I had off for a day all to myself but with a 2 and 4 year old I dont see that anytime in the near future haha

Hey all! Quick note. Need prayers for a friend at work. His Mother has cancer that has spread. She wont make it but Ill need some prayers to help her have as little as pain as possible when she passes to see the Lord.

You guys always get my prayers and undrtakr I'm sending them onto your friend right now, but I too have found myself in search of comforting words and the attention of God's ear. We had bad news yesterday my friends little boy, age7, found out he has Leukaemia and has to start treatment next week. Its hit us hard as our boys play together and its going to be hard going for the family over the next weeks/months/years. I can't imagine feeling what they are as what I personally feel right now is terrible so it must be magnified for them. He's in hospital at the moment and the kids from his class all took gifts up of magazines etc to cheer him up. He will definitely be in my prayers and thoughts each day as will the family.

This just breaks my heart to read this. It's always so much harder when it's a child. Prayers being sent for everyone involved.

Well my friends... Today has been a long day... I got to work at 3.. And fell violently I'll. Puking, vertigo the whole nines.. I was sent home and couldn't keep anything down, including water and gravol. Aaron decided to take me too the hospital around six as I was becoming weak and unable to comprehend things..
Since then I have had xrays on my abdomin, two bouts of bloodwork and 2 bags if Iv laced with gravol and some other stuff I can't pronounce.. Through my bloodwork they found that my white cells are very high so they have admitted me for overnight. I have also been isolated to my room they are checking too see if I have an infection in my blood... Here's to hoping I don't!!!

Here in Texas I have heard a lot of people call all carbonated beverages, coke!

I was guilty of that myself until I realized how silly it sounded! :wink:

I have friends who moved up from the south and when asking them what kind of soda they would want, they would always sake "Coke". I would take them a Pepsi or Coke, whichever we had and when they said that is not what they wanted, at first, I was confused. I caught on real quick, trust me! cheesy

Yeah, they were great, I'd see them again! As for Penn State...I just wish they'd pick a QB and stick with them! It's frustrating for fans and probably the entire team to be switching QB's every single play!!! I can't imagine how much better they'd be playing if they just picked someone!!! ARGH! I could go on all day about this but I'll spare you all.

I know what you mean - it is frustrating to watch and I am sure it is worse for the players. I just hope they have an okay season. I usually get to a game every year, but I am not sure if we will get to one this year since I was off on maternity leave.

I just got off of the phone with my sister and she said my niece did great with her first infusion. They gave her an extremely strong dose of steroids before the remicaide to hopefully help reduce the inflammation even faster. Now we just have to wait a couple of days to make sure she doesn't have any allergic reactions to either of them.

Good evening, or perhaps I should say good morning, Christmas family !!

I got done working about two hours ago and was just sitting here trying to catch up on the posts. I havent been on as much as usual lately because I just haven't been feeling really well. Asthma is still raging and on top of that I have been getting flashes of lightheadedness sitting down ! I have mostly been just trying to take it easy when I am not working.

So many of our Christmas family have such bad things going on in their lives. As I am Catholic, I am going to try and say a rosary just for those in our Christmas family who have need xo

You might recall that just a week or so ago I posted about our little Chihuahua, Ivy and her knee. I finally got to talk to the vet today and it seems it is not her knee at all - she TORE her cruciate ligament !! Ouch !! As long as she doesnt walk on it a whole lot and rests, it seems to feel better. I am hesitant for her to have drastic surgery at this point because she is 13. The vet told me that as long as she rests and doesn't seem to get worse, she will probably be okay and that she is probably not in pain (I disagree with this even though I am not a doctor - I am STILL a mom of sorts !).

Wish has been doing okay so far as are my other furkids.

This weekend is the Fall Festival at my favorite local home and garden center - Donzells. They always have a Halloween/Fall type weekend every year and there are usually some Christmas items set up !! I can't wait !

Sorry to hear that you haven't been feeling very well, CM3. Hope you feel better soon. I hate asthma. I've pretty much outgrown mine. It can be such a scary thing. I am glad you truly know what is wrong with Ivy now. Saying a prayer for you and Ivy. I hope Ivy doesn't have too much pain and can still get around well enough without the surgery! Glad to hear Wish has been doing okay!

Yep, I just explained this to DD yesterday afternoon. It was around 5 p.m., dark & rainy. I told her we'd be getting up in the dark & going home in the dark soon.

One of the things I don't like about winter ... when it's sunny, all the weekday daylight hours are "wasted" at the office.

Good morning, everyone!
Tomorrow, however, I have an interview at Natural Resources Canada. It's a government position. At the moment, it does not pay very well, but it's money - and I desperately need money right now.

As I write this, I just saw the winter Puffs wipes commercial. Being winter set in winter - and during a snowball fight - it has a Christmassy feel. I like it!
