lol...i announce how many days to christmas all year long and i get some strange looks and head shaking too. Oh well, too bad for them that they can't have the joy in their hearts all year long. But, its a constant reminder why i am here at mmc. To be among all of you that have the love, passion and appreciation of christmas. It is so nice to know we are never alone. We all have each other!! :-d

very true ............

Nice to hear about the snow but you stay safe . and hoping your power stays on . do you usually have snow as early ?

No, we don't usually get snow until December, sometimes late November. This is very rare for us, especially this amount.

I don't know if I have allergies or a cold, but I got one to the two....yuck....

I hope you feel better soon!!

We're baaaaaack!

Snow-in-Texas and I have been away on vacation for 2 1/2 weeks.

We went to Maryland to see his friends and family, then New York City to see the 911 Memorial and John Lennon Memorial in Central Park, Washington DC and...................SANTA CLAUS, INDIANA!!!!

When we returned from that trip back to Texas we headed to the coast for a 5 day Caribbean Cruise. Just got back home this afternoon. We stopped at the port in Cozumel, Mexico and Progreso, Mexico. Hurricane Rina got a little in the way and was scheduled to hit Cozumel on Thursday, the day we were suppose to arrive. They switched the days and had us stop in Cozumel on Wednesday and then Progreso on Thursday to get away from the storm. The waters were real rough since the hurricane was close but we had fun!

Guess what I was shopping for on our cruise? Christmas ornaments! I bought a couple on the cruise ship. I bought one with a Carnival cruise ship on it. In the port of Progreso I bought a Mexican Nativity. I could not find any Christmas tree ornaments I liked there. They had only a few to choose from.

I will post pictures in a few days. I got quite a few from Santa Claus, Indiana that I can't wait for you all to see.

I thought about you all a lot and miss you! I am very very tired and will try to get back on here soon to catch up on some post.

Welcome Back!!! Sounds like you had a FANTASTIC vacation!!!

FINAL---whooooo hooooo
And NOW the celebration will begin! Goodnight folks talk to you all tomorrow!

Go DAWGS!!!

Hello all, from my snowy part of Pennsylvania!

Thankfully we still have power, which a lot of people around us do not have. And we are precariously close to not having power, as our neighbor's very heavy tree branches are now laying directly on our power lines. So...we will just hope that everything stays okay.

The snow started way earlier than expected, meaning DF and I had to run to my parents' house at 9am to feed their cats and make sure everything was okay (they're out of town for the weekend). The roads were messy even then, but we made it okay. I think as of now we've gotten about 4-5 inches of very wet, heavy snow. It's so weird seeing SNOW in PENNSYLVANIA in OCTOBER!!! I am definitely not ready for this yet. =( Although some of the trees look so pretty with the snow on them...just wish they were trees that weren't damaging power lines, lol!

We had to cancel our plans tonight because of the weather, so DF and I have immersed ourselves in college football. THANKFULLY my Penn State Nittany Lions pulled out the LUCKIEST win in their history and gave JoePA his 409th win, the most of any coach in Division 1 football history. =D I can't even name all the games I've watched, but for the most part most of the teams I rooted for won (with the exception of Florida...sorry gabulldawg - no offense!). Now I'm watching Wisconsin lose to Ohio State (grrrr) and USC beat Stanford (yay). Also hoping for a GA Tech victory over Clemson!

Guess we will also be watching to see if it snows more...hopefully we are close to done. MerryCarey, xmas365, sugar and anyone else who is directly affected by this along with me - please stay safe and check in often! Stay safe and warm, everyone and enjoy your night! <3

Hello Christmas Pals,

Cold, rainy and snowy here in South Jersey. I really wanted to put my tree up since I stayed in all day. Unfortunately, I did not feel all that great today. So I just stayed in and enjoyed a relaxing day in bed. I didn't watch any scary movies, but I was able to watch a few movies and reruns of some of my favorite shows. I saw one movie with Kathryn Heigl (I think thats right) called Life as we know it. I enjoyed that. As Dolly Parton said in Steel Magnolias, "Laughter thru tears is my favorite emotion", and Life as we know it was very heart touching to me.

Well I resolved that the tree may not go up before 11/12, so I am ok with it. So, since I rested all day, I decided to get up and start some holiday planning. Menus, shopping lists, gift ideas. So of course, I had to stop by and check-in on my Christmas Pals to be sure everyone is enjoying their weekend. With only 2 weeks left before the season, I am so excited. But after Monday, more of the world will catch up with us in realizing how close we are to the most wonderful time of the year.

Well enough about me. Everyone have a wonderful evening & be safe.

Good very snowy evening,

We are in the middle of a major snowstorm right now, according to the latest update we are now in the 10-18 inches of snow range, it started while I was at work the drive home was a little treacherous but took it slow and steady. According to the National Grid we are one of only 46 homes in my town that still have electricity, but we have been experiencing brownouts all night, and we hear trees cracking around us, this poor town lost thousands upon thousands of trees during the tornado back in June. Hopefully the power stays all night.

Have a great night!

:playing: :snowball:

Ooh---just as I was reading this, I heard a big CRACK and heard a tree limb fall outside, and another CRACK. This is beginning to frighten me. We still have our power, but we heard on the radio at 11 p.m. that there are about 200,000 without in the state, and nearly 2 million without power up and down the East Coast. Trees in Mass. are coming down and blocking roads, and the 50 mph wind gusts haven't even started yet. The worst of the snow is to come after midnight. I'm keeping the heat up to 70 overnight so we have a little extra in case the power and heat go out.

Otherwise, we had a nice evening---a triple feature (two DVD, one film) and a short subject, plus fresh popcorn. We'll see what tomorrow brings. If the power stays on, we'll watch some more movies. If it doesn't, I guess we'll bundle up, put batteries in the portable player, and listen to some old-time radio.

All of you who are in the winter wonderland: stay safe, stay warm! It sounds magical, snow in october, but if it's a storm: safety first of course!

hope you feel better after having a relaxed day and you'll feel good enough to put your tree up whenever you feel up to it...

Snow-in-Texas and I have been away on vacation for 2 1/2 weeks.
sounds great :D good to have you back though! good to hear you have enjoyed yourself!

Tomorrow is the start of my work week. I found out that for the next few weeks there are likely to be mandatory weekend hours. I an always use extra money, who can't ?,but I need my weekend off .....I will do the best I can with this !! I did find out that the reason I am not getting Radiology reports so much now is that they have two other people on afternoon shift doing it !! I got really upset about this - I was handling it just fine.....now there is very little Rad for me to do. I wrote and asked why they did this but don't know if they will answer. I was never given the opportunity of just doing rad all the time.....I just don't think it's fair....Whine over !
that does not sound fair at all, i hope they answer! you sound like a very loyal employee, so i don't get why they don't respect your work (like respecting you need the weekend off and not taking your work away without asking)... good luck!!

Well as Christmas-a-Holic said we just got back from a 2 1/2 week vacation. It was great being back in Maryland seeing my family, and those great fall colors!!! And as far as the cruise, it was my first time on a cruise, and I can't wait until we can do it again!!! I can't remember the last time I enjoyed myself so much and felt so relaxed!! I didn't want it to end!!
I am glad to hear you had an enjoyable time!

Morning. Got nothing planned today, so i'm just going to watch a few movies, play a bit of PS3 and pump some iron if i feel up to it. A very laid-back day for me. Hope everybody else has a great day or evening. Depending on where you live.
Hope you enjoyed your laid-back day :)

The rain has changed over to snow here, and it feels like the temps are dropping, too. It's about 34F now. We just finished topping off our windshield washer fluid and covering our windshields. We're in for the night, and maybe for tomorrow, too, depending on how much falls. Cross your fingers that we don't lose electricity and heat. The snow is very wet and sticky, and is already clinging to the tree leaves.
hope you got through the night alright!

Well, I hope you're all having a great day! I'm having a wonderful weekend so far! I hope you all do too! If I don't get a chance to check back in, have a great evening!
your weekend sounds amazing, hope the rest of your weekend was great as well :)

I've had the Halloween itch today. As previously mentioned, I am not dressing up or partaking in any festivities. However, I have had a few friends ask me to go out and stuff. I wish I could! But, I really can't afford it. Oh well!

My dad should arrive in a matter of minutes. It is just under a nine hour drive from the Sault to Ottawa, so I'm saying that he will be here by 4:15. Upon his arrival, we will be heading for some Endless Shrimp, which will be followed by an evening of watching hockey and hanging out.
hopefully next year you'll get the full blast of halloween, and for now i hope you had a great time with your father!

Anyways, I went to Target on the way home from work yesterday, and found some battery operated lights for the garland I put on my stairwell/ railing. They only came in a pack of 10, and stretch @ 5 feet. That's not many lights...but they were reasonable at only $1.99 each. So, I may go that route, and get @ 4 of them. Or, I may still try to find a way to hide the cords somehow. The battery packs are kind of big, and I wonder how much juice they use. You need 2 D batteries for each =(
if i were you, i'd try and hide the chords, if you need to change the batteries while you putted them in a garland, that might be kind of unhandy, but it does sound beautiful! you'll probably find a way to make it look amazing!

Also just found out we are having to postpone my climbing trip to West Va,in early December. MY birthday in on the 2nd of december and ever since my early 20's,I mountain climb on my birthday(see photo's in profile) OK so a few years I hiked smaller trials. But I have climbed the rockies on my 35th Bd. And this year I was goin to hike West VA because it was so beautiful.I will go in Jan,but that is tentative too because of the baby coming around the first of that month. I hate no knowing exactly when and where all of this is going to happen(yes even the babies arrival) I deal with specifics in every day life and not knowing exact details bothers the heck out of me. Oh well that's life I guess...
hope you can still go in january, i'm sorry you can't go on your birthday though!

My stitches were removed from my shoulder today. I only had to have four "holes" for the doctor to do his surgery. I am SO far behind, but I am looking forward to catching up on all the posts. There's not a lot I can do physically, so this will keep me busy. I am just giddy with excitement about all the posts, the upcoming holidays, the new cookbook, the gift exchange and all the other exchanges, and, yes, my upcoming surgeries. My eye surgeries will be done on November 2 and the facelift on December 14. Oh, how vain am I? I will be returning to work on a limited basis. I cannot believe how it is getting harder to bounce back. I am sure it has NOTHING to do with my age!!! I had to take a three-hour nap the other day! I hope to finish all my catching up right after my eye surgeries. Note the use of the word "hope." And a HUGE congrats to Dawg for being MOM. It is a great honor, and the green banner is an added touch of recognition. My eyes are slowly closing, so I better get to bed. I really miss you guys.
i hope you will feel better soon!!

TGIF! I am so happy today is over, today has been a rough one, very mentally drained tonight so can't think of much to share with everyone tonight other than we are supposed to get some snow overnight. Normally I am ecstatic over the first snowfall of the year, however this could be an ugly mess with a lot of leaves still on the trees..... the heavy wet snow could cause limbs to break, power lines to be down etc..bleh.
hopefully tomorrow will be better for you!! and hopefully you'll get to stay inside a lot if outside is messy due to the snow... maybe stack up on hot cocoa, it might make you feel better!

Hi every one!
How do you like my new signature picture :D ? Since our stay in Island this summer I am a total reindeer nut! Reindeers are just amazing, and so beautiful! I hope we will get to Scandinavia during a winter one time, and get to see them in the wild and get to ride in a reindeer-sleigh!
article-1259069546255-05C200F60000044D-930560_304x244.jpg

So I decided to put a cute little reindeer in my signature!

I hope all of you have an amazing sunday and feel well!

to all of your who are having halloween this weekend:

wish you a very scary halloween :)

I didn't realize this.... 2,000 posts!! It only took me a 3 years and 1 month to accomplish. But, I guess it is more like 2 years and four months because I never really started posting until July of 2009. Either way, I am now at 2,000! My goal for the month has been reached!

Congrats! :) I just realized (due to your post ) me too!!

Evening. Coming from the land down under. Gale force winds have been running wild outside for the past hour. Talk about chaotic. Today was a wonderful day for me. Catching up with my good friend was a blast. It's great to have somebody that isn't afraid to express his opinions. Excited about changing my subject selections for next year. Thought long and hard about my subjects for next year and I finally made up my mind. For one of my subjects, I will be going to TAFE once a week for one of my courses, so I'm pretty excited about that. I get to use the new state-of-the-art gym that just opened on campus. If things don't go according to plan and I'm unhappy at my current school, I can switch and attend TAFE full-time. So, it's a win-win situation. Call me crazy, but I am wanting to play at a very high level in soccer. Sadly, a minority of people snicker and think I am joking. Good thing is that when somebody tells me i can't do it, I keep going and I end up proving that person wrong. Good thing is most of my subjects are sport related, so those subjects will help me achieve my goal. I've got my whole life ahead of me, so there is plenty of time, but I just have a lot of passion and that is really important as well. A few PDHPE teachers at my school rate me highly and tell me that my shots at goal are both deadly and frightening. Flatters me that they think I have what it takes. Goodnight everybody.

**yawns** G'morning!

So good news: I got all of my chores done. Not-so-good news: I want to go out today BUT it's the end of the month and I don't get paid until tomorrow.

Guess I'll just stay home and keep on working on my home-made Christmas gifts.

Looks like we left Maryland too early! We were staying at a cabin nearby Wayne's family and that would have been beautiful to see snow while being there! Those of you having snow, stay safe!

Hmmmmm......
Is there tea or coffee in that cup, Kimothy?

Good Morning, Friends!
Half the weekend is gone, Halloween looms up just ahead in the shadows and it's time to check in on the morning count:
Days to Halloween: 1 (TOMORROW! Need we say more?)
Days to the Season: 14 (TWO WEEKS from today!)
Days to Christmas Day: 56 (EIGHT WEEKS from today!)
Downright frightening!

Brrrrr!
A cold 38 degrees here this morning as I prepare for my walk with the dog.
Fortunately, there is sun and no wind.
Warmer weather should start to creep back in, shortly.

Allrighty!
May you and yours have a Simply Super Sunday, with all the Christmas-anticipating trimmings.
Enjoy your day.....and keep that camera handy to snap a pix or 2 for the Blossoms thread!
