Ooh---just as I was reading this, I heard a big CRACK and heard a tree limb fall outside, and another CRACK.

According to the National Grid we are one of only 46 homes in my town that still have electricity, but we have been experiencing brownouts all night, and we hear trees cracking around us, this poor town lost thousands upon thousands of trees during the tornado back in June.

I hope you guys are okay and still have power today!!!!!!

HALLELUJAH!!!!!!

I finished downloading the songs for Mom's Nat King Cole CD!! 23 songs in all! Now I don't know if I should give it to her at Thanksgiving or add it to the CD she's already getting from me. Anyhoo....YAY!!!!!!! :hello:

Well it's starting to get dark here and the dread of monday has started. I guess I will watch tv the rest of the day and try to get to sleep early tonight. Have a good night everyone!talk to yall on Halloween!

Wow it's such a slow day around here...anyone out there? I am about to turn in and finish some reviews that are due in tomorrow for work, then read and watch tv in bed. I hope and pray tomorrow will be a good day at work,to be honest last days of the month are hellish plus mondays are hellish,so it will be double hellish...but at least It should go by fast. Have a good night all.

CM3-if you can't sleep tonight and I can't I guess I will pal around with you tonight...but maybe we will be okay! ;)

It is rare to find hardly a soul here. It is Halloween, supposed to be spooky!

As I mentioned to you all that Wayne and I just got back from a Caribbean Cruise yesterday. Well guess who we saw in the dining room enjoying his very much deserved vacation?????? Look closely and tell me who you see!

Hello, everyone---

xmas365, are you okay out west there? Did you lose your electricity?

We only got a couple inches of snow that all melted today, but we've been without electricity since 4 a.m. It was sunny today, so we set up card tables in the front room where it was bright, put batteries in the CD player, put on some Christmas music, and wrapped some Christmas presents. Then we went out to get a hot meal. There were two or three utility trucks working next to the highway near us. We went through some neighborhoods that were fine, but others the traffic lights were out. The restaurant was super-busy with other power-less people getting a good meal. When we got home the utility trucks were STILL working, so we hung out for a while to see if the lights would come back on. By 6:30 it was dark and the house temp was down to 63, with the outdoor temps due to go down into the 20s tonight, so we thought we'd better spend the night out. (The utility trucks were STILL working.) We snagged the very last available room at the motel where we are now, and it was heaven to walk into a warm (actually, rather overheated) room where we can get a hot shower and lights.

Mr. is planning to stay home tomorrow, but I'll be going in to work. We'll have to throw out everything in the fridge, 'cause the power's been off over 15 hours; sadly, it was well stocked. I'm hoping the power comes back on before the stuff in the freezer is a loss too---it should be good for 24 to 36 hours, which would be tomorrow afternoon.

I know we're better off than the folks who lost their electricity AND got a foot of snow, but I'm tired and discouraged. At least we have a comfortable room to spend the night in, at a reasonable rate. We're even close enough to home that if we've forgotten anything, we can drive over and get it.

I hope they get it back on soon!!!!!!! On the bright side, hopefully this storm knocked down all of the old lines that were ready to go. So when they get it all fixed you won't have to worry the rest of the winter.

gababulldawg and cm3 hope you both get a good nights sleep

Just checked our utility's website---some areas won't be restored until Wednesday evening (estimated). Our town doesn't even have an estimated time yet. It says "Assessing." That does not sound encouraging.

At least our motel has free Wi-Fi so I can check in and stay on touch here ...

Hello everyone!

Happy to say we never lost power and the snow is nearly all melted around here. Glad to hear that mostly everyone here has made it through the storm with little to no damage! =) My best friend up here was without power for over 24 hours and she just got it back. Luckily they were able to stay with her parents who were just 5 houses down the street and DID have power. Such a crazy time...still can't get over the fact that we got snow so early! Hoping it's out of the way now for the next few months!

Today was another very football day for us! We went to our good friends' house to watch Arizona (our male friend's team) v. Ravens and Steelers (our female friend's team and my 3rd fave team) v. Pats. Poor male friend...what a heartbreaking loss but yay for Steelers! Also happy about the Giants comeback win!! So two out of three teams win...sigh Colts...breaks my heart. </3 But we had a good time with them and ate some good Dominos pizza! =)

We are trying a new method to make sure DF's dog Gunner can sleep a little easier. Last weekend he started acting really weird when we went to bed (he's slept out in the living room since my cat and I moved in last October...the cat sleeps in the bedroom with us). In a year, he had never knocked over the gate that separated the living room/kitchen/dining room from the bedrooms, but 3 times last weekend, he did. The other nights he either whined to go downstairs (which he never does), or we had to shut the bedroom door and he slept in the other bedroom. So on Friday, we decided to bring his big cage that we normally kept downstairs and put it in the bedroom, and have had him sleep in that with us and the cat. He whines for the first few minutes, but then ends up falling asleep. I guess it's going well (Sangria hides under the bed for the first hour or so but when I wake up she's back on the bed, so at some point she's coming back up), but we don't know what other options we have. It's been over a year since I moved in with Sangria and she and Gunner are no more used to each other or friendly to each other and we still have to keep them separated at all times. We're hoping this new method will maybe get them used to each other, but we doubt it. Anyone have any options or thoughts?

Anyway, as DF just said, "I thought you were going to bed? Now you're typing?!", which I suppose is my cue to go to bed, lol. Have a Happy Halloween tomorrow, everyone!

Goodnight. :)
