Hey Peoples!!!
Well, I've broken my New Year resolution to post once a day in here. Just remember that just because you don't see me or hear me doesn't mean I don't care about what's going on in your lives (how arrogant do I sound, like you'll be worried if I care or not!!) But I do care - a lot.
Life has been hectic, to say the least! I was approached by the powers that be in the government Registration service (for those who aren't aware, I am a Registrar of Births, Deaths and Marriages so I'm the one you come to when/if any of those things happen or you want them to happen (usually in the case of the marriages!!) I also undertake family history research and perform weddings - normal and gay - and citizenship ceremonies......which I always feel is a little ironic - a Canadian bestowing British Citizenship on others!!!!!!) to become an exam setter. Like most occupations with degrees, etc., exams must be taken to obtain these qualifications and I'm now one of the people setting these exams. No pressure then!!!!!!!!!! I'm discovering it's not as easy as it looks on the box!!!!!!!!!! Still, it's a learning curve for me AND them.
Bruce is in the middle of his 2nd teaching placement. He's currently with Grade 4 and last night came home with a bracelet that 2 of the girls made for him. It's kind of like a black watch strap with a "Hello Kitty" charm and a "G" on it (because to them, of course, he's Mr Gilchrist!!!!!) It's SO cute and I think MR Gilchrist was a mixture of really touched and really embarrassed. It doesn't go anywhere like around his wrist but it's the thought that counts, eh ?!!!!!!
Jacob (Border Terrier) has spent every other day this week throwing up. Ever since he had a bad case of gastroenteritis when he was a puppy, he's been prone to a dodgy tummy. Just has to look at the wrong thing and he throws up. Doesn't seem to bother him too much but we keep an eye on him anyway. Cracker (Cairn Terrier) is like a walking mop and is forever on the lookout for small furry creatures to terrorise!!!
Had a funeral to go to last week. It was the 44 year old husband of a friend of mine who dropped dead of a heart attack in a home furnishings store. Pretty horrific.
I'm also doing a spot of stage managing for a one-act competition that our Am-Dram group has entered. The director is the Queen of Delegation and is a firm believer in "Why have a dog and bark yourself"!!!!!!!! Therefore, instead of the title "stage manager" I think I should be rechristened "Gopher" or "Dogsbody"!!!!!
So, this is my life so far. Congratulations to everyone who has achieved something (baby, job, birthday, milestone) Courage to everyone that needs some support (you know who you are) and Cuddles to everyone. Period. Everybody needs a cuddle!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Don't forget me!!!!
