It's Friday! Here we have Fall break all next week!
Yay! The kids are exiting!!

We are staying at home, but are taking some road trips.
Tonight I'm taking the boys out around seven. We will look at the stars
and I have bought them some new flashlights to use on our walk.
Its getting dark here around six! (and cold)

We thought of going up the mountains next week, but there is
something wrong with the water in the cabin. So we stay home.
I also promised the boys to take them fishing on Monday.

Bo has been acting a bit off the past few days. I was planning on going to the Homecoming parade this evening, but need to stay here in case he needs help. My brother wrote a book and I have the rough draft loaded on the laptop, so I will start reading it tonight. It will be nice and quiet and I will be able to hear if Bo whines.

I was going to suggest that, LB!!! Now I won't have to worry anymore about hangar rental!!! That wine sounds so good. I am going to add that to my list of "must-tries."

We are moving ourselves (U-Haul) w/ the help of a really good friend of ours in Vegas. He is taking two weeks off of work & making the move w/ us to Wisconsin. We are so grateful!! But we are concerned about U-Haul having a big enough truck..we shall see! Making a trip there sometime this week. Please keep your fingers crossed!

Speaking of Cookies, has anyone ever tried to make these? I found the recipie on-line and it sounds good, different, and definately not fat free!!!But, it has caught my attention...

I have a recipe that is very similar to this - and they are a HUGE hit!!! I'll mark the changes of my Christmas Recipe for SnowBalls

Ho-Ho SnowBalls

Ingredients

(2) 6-ounce packages of white chocolate chips
¼ cup of Heavy Cream
(2) Tablespoons Bourbon or additional heavy cream I use Brandy - sometimes plum flavor and/or sometimes I add a teaspoon of vanilla
6-ounce package slivered almonds, very finely ground Sometimes I use walnuts or macadam nuts if I do not have almonds handy
1-1/2 cup sweetened flaked coconut

Directions

Place chocolate chips and cream in a medium bowl set over a pan of hot (not boiling) water; stir until melted and smooth.
Stir in Bourbon (or additional heavy cream) and almonds.
Spread in a lightly greased 8”x8” pan.
Chill for 1 hour, until firm.
Cut into one-inch squares; roll each square into ball, then roll into coconut. keep chilled.

Makes about 5 dozen

Hello everyone!


I'm not sure if I mentioned here that our wedding photographer has strangely gone MIA since our wedding, and hubs and I are really starting to get nervous about it. We were supposed to have pictures by Wednesday of last week, but she is now not returning calls, texts, or emails. I even tried calling her from hubs's phone, thinking that maybe she was intentionally ignoring my calls, but it went straight to voicemail from his phone too. I won't even go into the crap she put us through on our wedding day (it would literally be the longest post EVER), but if we end up not getting our pictures from her, I will be irate. One of my friends that called today has volunteered to take some replacements pics for us, and our venue has agreed to let us have time to do this. The thing is, Travis won't be able to re-rent his suit, so we are hoping to find something close to it in his closet. Most of the shots we want done are ones of just me completely dressed up (she took NONE the day of...yeah...) but there are some of the both of us that we want done, so hopefully he has something he can wear. It is just such a mess, but I'm so glad we have a friend who is willing to do this for us. Hopefully my friends that did my hair and makeup will be able to help too.

Its going to be a cool in the 40's to 50's weekend. Thanksgiving weekend is here. I work on Monday but only for a half day so I can spend the rest with my Family. Oh the colors of the tree across the street. Ill post a picture when I get home. It looks soooo fally...fally...yes. We will go with fally. hah. Not much is new. Van is running like new now. Big thanks to my Brother in Laws Father. Its nice to know that there are still people out there that are not in it just for the money, but to help people that NEED it. Avon magazines have Christmas stuff in it. Hey. I can add some of those pictures to the blossoms thread too! Well back to work I go. Hope everyone has a great day!

Good afternoon everyone,

Friday! One more work week has (nearly) past, which makes us one more week closer to Christmas. Of course, this upcoming long weekend will certainly make everything pass much faster... at least there is a four day work week ahead of us next week, too!

It was a warm morning in Ottawa today. Although it was not as humid as yesterday morning, it was still a quite comfortable 16c (61f). Temperatures for the weekend range from highs in the lower-to-mid 50s and mid 40s. Perfect for Thanksgiving weekend! No complaints about this comfortable weather.

Last night was quiet. I went to the gym again and had some more great progress on my knee. I can finally do proper deadlifts again. I hadn't done that since the end of June! With that said, I haven't lost a whole lot of strength, I just need to focus on my form and re-gain a bit of stamina. I'm excited for it to all come back. Perhaps I can start squatting again next week? We'll see how my knee continues to progress. Even if I cannot next week, I'm excited to do so in the next couple weeks.

Kim and I just stayed in last night. It was quiet and enjoyable. My dad phoned, so I talked to him for the first time in a couple weeks. He said he plans to visit at the beginning of November., which should be a good time. I always look forward to his visits. Not to mention that is the perfect time to go to the malls and witness all the Christmas decorations filling the sights!

Well, I think I should return to work. Lunch time is quite soon, too. Then, before we know it, it will be the weekend! I look forward to leading the count for two days. I'll be in Cornwall - an hour outside of Ottawa - with Kim's family, celebrating Thanksgiving. I'll give the updates from there! Have a great Friday everyone!!

I will take any other restaurant or show recs that you want to give! =)

As for the photographer...I really can't get started on her without flying into a curse-filled rage. Hubs and I are hoping that it is a family issue and not just her ignoring us (not that I wish for something bad to happen, but it would be better than her outright avoiding us), but we have a feeling that the pics turned out bad and knowing how much we valued the pictures, she is afraid to show us what she has. Thanks for your thoughts though...I hope you're right and everything will be okay.

Sorry to hear about your photo problem. Perhaps something is up, I can't believe someone wood be that low to do that, photo,s are like the memories you hold in your hand.
Hopefully something will come up soon work ways, and maybe if you can't get this cough I wood go to doctor as at times they can give stuff that can't be bought in a shop..

As for going to the doctor, I would love to, but I have no insurance since I lost my job at Kohl's. I am already in the hole for a doctor visit I had right after I lost my job that I thought would be covered, and we just found out wasn't. Hubs hasn't been able to add me to his yet, and we don't know if we will, since it will be $150 every two weeks for me to be on his insurance. And with me not having a job, we can't afford that. So, self-medicating it is. =(

does she have a studio you can go to. ?
Perhaps it is just a family emergency that is keeping her out of contact.

I hope you are right, Star. She doesn't have a studio as she is just getting her business off the ground, she works out of her house. All I know is she lives in the next county over, but we do not have an address for her. =\

Hope you can find something to make you feel better soon. I also hope you get everything worked out with your pictures. That is horrible and I feel so bad for you and your husband. No one should be treated like that, especially on your wedding day!

Oh, my, I would be more than irate! I hope this all gets straightened out! Keep us updated. On another note, I normally go to the doctor when I get a cold because many times in the past it really got bad. Last year I ended up with three broken ribs from all the coughing!!! The doc normally prescribes a cough medicine with codeine. I know a lot of people cannot take codeine, but I swear by the medicine. I don't think I have EVER finished a whole bottle, that's how good it works. I am going to see about that Delsym, though. Take care!

With that said, I haven't lost a whole lot of strength, I just need to focus on my form and re-gain a bit of stamina. I'm excited for it to all come back. Perhaps I can start squatting again next week? We'll see how my knee continues to progress. Even if I cannot next week, I'm excited to do so in the next couple weeks.

So today I am all sorts of contrasting.... I am wearing white Capri's (after Labor Day - OH MY)... A summer top... Flip-flops.... And it is 10/5!!!! The temp as mentioned above will be 80 degrees, and I have Christmas songs blaring for my radio!! Lov'in every minute!!!!

That's not normal to wear that after Labor Day? That's what I have on right now. :lol:

If you lived in Texas you would understand. We get cold during the fall/winter but we also have our weird warm days when everyone is out in December and January wearing shorts! cheesy

As I mentioned already today will be up in the 80's then drop drastically over the weekend down in the 40's! Capris and Flip Flops today, tomorrow a winter coat. Cloudy, winds up to 25 mph and COLD! :cry:

I forgot to mention but last night my daughter invited me to a dinner at the college she teaches at. They have a Culinary School there and every few months they let the staff invite friends and family for a gourmet 3 course dinner for free! It's part of their schooling to cook up dinner and serve it. Tipping is not allowed and makes me feel a bit guilty because of the hard work they do but it's a school project they get graded on. The food was excellent!

My son-in-law, his brother, his mother and my mom were all there as well. We had such a nice time visiting with his family and lots of laughs! I love hanging out with them.

We plan to leave at the end of December. We have our house leased until Dec. 31st, although if the weather is good, may leave a few days early. It's coming @ us fast. So much to do, so little time. But, we're excited. I go home in a month to start looking at rental properties. Keep your fingers crossed that I find some good ones!

What type of shows are you into?
I'd highly reccommend Jersey Boys & Le Reve. Blue Man Group is always great, too.

For an excellent steakhouse, I'd look into Top Of The World @ The Stratosphere (delicious food & amazing view!). It is pricey, though.
As far as good/reasonable bar food, 777 Brew Pub @ Main St. Station is a nice little joint. If you or your HUSBAND (don't ya love saying that, now?!) like sampling beer, they have one for $5.99!! What a deal =]
