I hate that "C" word, don't you? Praying that the doctor is able to correctly assess his needs.

I pray you are all ok.... Ihave been MIA again... my dad was diagnosed with lung cancer... life has been full off doctors and tests and more to come ;(

I hope Sandy missed you all!

I truly hope you all can figure out a way for your mom to be able to get to travel.

Well, found out today that we have to tell mom she cannot travel to the states to visit my sister in Vermont anymore. No insurance company will have her now that she had this mini stoke. She will be so sad as going there several times a year for a month at a time is something she so enjoys and looks forward too.
We are still looking into options, but it does not look good. It breaks my heart to have to tell her this. She was planning to go there for your Thanksgiving.

Thats a hard one especially when she looks forward to it. Is there any way round it ? is it far from one place to another
i really hope you can get something sorted

I don't know what to do! I feel so bad that he is in pain. Especially with his age, I think it is going to take quite some time to recover. He said if he doesn't feel any better by the end of the week that he'll go to the doctor. All of this on top of the storm is really no picnic!

i really wood try and get him to go and see a doctor he may have cracked or broken ribs. and if one of them went in to his lungs yes it may be only sorness from the seatbelt but at that age the bones are more fragile

HAPPY HALLOWEEN!!!!!

Okay back to bed I go.

Hello all!

Before I get to the replies...hubs and I (and the animals) are all okay! We actually sustained little damage from the storm itself, which is surprising considering we have 5 trees in the yard and our neighbor's branch lying almost directly on top of our cable and power lines. We did lose power a total of 4 times...first time from about 5-7pm, second time from about 8-9pm, then again from 9:15-9:30pm, then last from 9:45pm until about 3pm today. It was quite rough...I have never been in a situation where I'd been without power for more than 3 hours. I have never slept with so many blankets or with so many clothes on! It was pretty fun though...I went across the street to our neighbor's house during the second power outage and we drank hurricanes (which are quite yummy!). Hubs wanted to stay behind with the animals so I didn't stay long, but it was still a bit of fun in the midst of all the craziness! We didn't have too much rain but the wind was relentless! Also, we did sustain a little bit of damage...not from the storm but because of our water heater! It must've started to leak overnight because when we woke up this morning, almost our entire basement floor was covered! Thank god for our wet/dry shop vac! We worried for a while whether or not we had hot water, but I did take a shower when the power came back on and it hasn't leaked since. This is the second time this has happened in a year so we are a bit concerned. Anyone have any water heater advice?

I'm glad to see most everyone has checked in, but I am still worried about those we haven't heard from. Continued good thoughts to all!

My 87 year old grandpa was in a car accident tonight. Someone ran a stop sign and plowed right into him. His whole car is totaled and all of the airbags deployed. I still cannot get over this happening. I am relieved to say that he walked away with no injuries aside from soreness from wearing his seat belt and the airbags.

I am so sorry to hear this Jennifer! I hope he recovers quickly.

Please pray for my mom I am at hospital with her, she may have had a mini stroke. She collapsed at home just over an hour ago. Had a bunch of tests done just waiting for doctor to come.

Good thoughts going your way!!!!

I have had another nagging cold for the last week and half. It seems to not be going away. It's the cough that's the worse. I think I am going to go out purchase Delsym today. I've seen other people suggest that I on the forum. Hopefully it works. If not, I am stuck. I've tried everything else, except an antibiotic, which I was on two weeks or so ago for the cold I had then - I don't really want to go that route again, already

I purchased Delsym on Jennifer's advice and it worked pretty well! It didn't work right away for me, but I think that's because I'd had the cough for a few weeks before I bought it. But in about a week, I had no cough! Hope you are feeling better!!

Thank you all for your prayers!

Mom did have a mini stroke. She has very high blood pressure for which she is now on medication for. She is home now and feeling better. Arrangements are being made for her to go to the stroke clinic for a treatment plan.
I am tired, thinking of having a nap, but most likely will just wait or I will not be able to sleep later.

Thanks again everyone!

No problem! I will continue to think of her.

Good morning! I just got back from the grocery store down the street to get some coke's or pepsi and I picked the coke's since they had the bears' on them...I wonder if they are the 2012 Christmas ones...anyway it was beautiful outside..sunny and 57F with wind blowing..now this is fall finally! Now I am ready to see some leaves change and watch halloween movies the next 2 days...I have outpatient surgery first thing in the morning I should be over that in a few days, then I have the next 2 weeks off work..it does not get any better than that! Have a great sunday everyone!! I hope everyone on the east coast stays safe...and some of you may get y0our first snow today!!!

I love it! And your cat looks so much like my Sangria!! <3

I have a really cool scrapbooking app on my Ipod. In fact, I just purchased all the accessory kits for it !!! xo

What app is it, CM3? I would love to have one on my iPhone!

got a cake made for the fundraiser, hope it goes for a decent price!

this is a chocolate cake with caramel filling.

Oh my goodness Star! You make the most beautiful cakes!!! Love it!!

Hey everyone. Coming home from FL tomorrow afternoon. Flying into PA (not eastern). Please pray that I am able to get home - otherwise I am stuck here and it will be a huge mess. We are supposed to get high winds and tons of rain starting tomorrow at some point. I do not know where my plane is coming from to FL so I don't know if we will make it. Thanks - miss talking to you all!

Glad you were able to make it home on time! Hope you had a great trip! <3

Now as for All hallows eve, I went to out last night (my mom holds fundraising events for local families).. and it was a hoot! I went as a Police woman, and my lovely DB went as Lt Dangle from Reno 911. I LOVED his costume!! It was hilarious, the short shorts.. were.... beautiful hahahahah On Halloween, I will be dressing up as a vampire to greet the kidlets that knock on our door!! I am so excited:)

I also bought london a pumpkin costume... so cute!

Hubs and I went as Lt. Dangle and Det. Clementine Johnson (the blonde cop on Reno 911!) for Halloween two years ago! It's the picture on the front page of our wedding website (if you click the link in my signature). That was probably my favorite EVER costume! Hubs was so nervous to wear shorts that shirt, but he pulled it off so well! I bet your DH looked great as Dangle too!

Time to leave for work. Not feeling well, so I may be coming back home after I get a sub. Take care all of you in the path of the storm.

I hope you're feeling better, Seawaters! You are never far from my thoughts!

It's COLD! I am home from the Dr's office and feeling quite woozy so nothing I say should be held against me.! Everything went fine he said and I feel good...I just got home and am looking at my webcams at beech mtn..nc and I see snow!!! the ones I have in Wv and maryland are all offline..they are under a blizzard warning. it's 50F here with wind..blowing away alot of our leaves that have yet to change colors...but I am just glad it's cold now!!! have a great monday everyone.and stay safe!!!!

Glad to hear you feel good post-surgery! Continued good thoughts for a speedy recovery!

I just realized I have never gone through a hurricane/tropical storm at night. This will be freaky, not being able to see whats going on outside.
Sustained winds of 20mph, gusts up to 40mph. Rain coming down, the worst of it shall be from now until midnight.

That's how we felt last night! I almost didn't want to go to bed but finally I was just too tired to stay awake. It was very scary getting woken up by gusts of wind though!!

My doctor wrote a letter for me to be off work until school starts up after Christmas, January 7th. The exhaustion from radiation caught up with me. I had a hard time getting through today. In addition, I lost 10 pounds this week. I can afford to lose the weight, but just not that fast. Take care, everyone.

I think that is really for the best. I admire you for wanting to do as much as you can, but rest is so so important. Best wishes, as always!

My Hermione has to go to the doctor today. Her face is all swollen AGAIN. I am going to go along too. I should stay and work but as there is no work right now and I am not expecting too much because of the storm, I want to be there with my baby. I hope it is not anything serious. She acts just fine, full of mischief as ever. Eating great, drinking normally, just has a swollen face.

That is CRAZY! I hope they can figure out what's wrong with her! =(

Good Evening!
Thoughts and prayers are with you all!

I'm not feeling so good...
So Im going to cuddle up on the couch
with a big blanket and watch a movie...

Take care!

Feel better soon, Solice!

I am so sorry to hear this! My 85 year old grandpa is the SAME WAY and it is so frustrating sometimes. My mom literally has to cry to get him to go to the hospital when he's not feeling well. I really hope he will decide to go on his own soon...it sounds serious. =( Sending good thoughts his way.

Oh my gosh Star, that is so sad. Could your sister come visit her? I hope there can be a happy resolution to this situation.

I pray you are all ok.... Ihave been MIA again... my dad was diagnosed with lung cancer... life has been full off doctors and tests and more to come ;(

I am so sorry MerryNoel...that awful "c" word strikes again! Sending healing thoughts your way.

Hanging out with the wife watching Dancing with the Stars on DVD...my Cowboy Emmitt Smith is still in the competition....so I'm happy for another week...as long as they keep him I can keep watching...after that...I'm done....

Haha, I am glad he stayed, but heartbroken with who left. While she wasn't my ultimate champ, I definitely don't think it was her time to go yet. Seems like week 6 of the competition just doesn't like her! A shame. =(

Oh Star.......This breaks my heart. I am so sad about this. Insurance companies are nothing but %W%$$%$ in my opinion !!!! They always seem to hit you the hardest when you most need them. I am praying something turns out for this situation......((HUGS))) xo

Long day of work today...got in around 630 am and got home around 8 pm. It's ok though...it was very productive. Hanging out with the wife watching Dancing with the Stars on DVD...my Cowboy Emmitt Smith is still in the competition....so I'm happy for another week...as long as they keep him I can keep watching...after that...I'm done....
