The town 10 minutes away (and all the surorunding areas!) got snow last night, like 1.5 inches! Not a lot but still, some! We got - NADA! Not even a flurry! Boooo!

I have been scoring some great deals lately... My CVS and Rite Aid both had 75% off Christmas lights... My Hallmark had 90%!!!!! off ornaments... scored big-time..> Big Lots and Macy's - also 90% off...

Nice!

Around here Ocean State Job Lot is only at 50% off and they have 3 aisles of stuff, I have gotten some really nice Mr. Christmas stuff so far, for $5.

Thats a terrific idea, I'll do that!

I'm sorry to hear that you have developed skin cancer. Ironically, I have a doctors appointment tomorrow to have myself checked out. My primary care doctor didn't like the way some things looked in my annual checkup.

I guess that with me being of German, Irish and English descent, I'm very fair skinned and burn so easy, I don't tan at all, I get red, peel, get red again. My wife tans, and so do my kids, she's Italian and I jokingly tell my kids that they're mutts (healthy) and they also have some olive oil in them....lol

I guess it all stems back to when we were kids back in the 60's and early 70's, runnung around all day with our shirts off, short pants in the sun. They just didn't know about all the hamful dangers of overexposure to the sun back then like they do now. My wife's grandfather went thru a year of putting on, like some kind of an acid like cream on his face and arms, to burn off some of the (skin nasties) "as I call them", and it worked. He said it was painful, but it did work...

My thoughts are with you and I hope that your ordeal with this, is a minor one and that it was caught early. Now a days, I wear a hat all the time and use sunscreen alot.
Ohh! Just to clairfy, I had skin cancer, not currently. Thanks for your concern though! It was basal cell that was easily treated without chemo. I had several spots and they just removed it. I spent wayyyy too much time in the sun and in tanning beds when I was younger. Then after the cancer I became fearful of the sun. I think everyone went overboard on not getting any sun at all and coat on way too much sunscreen. But sunscreen is needed too after you catch a little bit of rays.

Now with new studies they say you should at least get 15-30 minutes of sun without any protection several times a week, (that varies depending on what site you look at). Also, no sunglasses, you actually absorb vitamin D through your eyes. Don't look at the sun! Ha ha! Just don't wear sunglasses for a short time to get those rays. People are suffering more due to lack of sunshine and not getting the much needed natural vitamin D and more cases of depression and/or SAD are reported. I love the sun but with respect, no more overdoing it and not avoiding it altogether either!

You can make anything with bacon, I have made chocolate covered bacon, prime rib wrapped with bacon, and I have had a bacon sundae. They have made things like meatloaf with bacon topped with...more bacon, burgers, a turkey wrapped in bacon It goes on and on.

A summer intern once brought in some candied bacon---it had a sort of sugar glaze on it. It wasn't bad ... but then again, I don't miss it. My one bacon aberration is an occasional peanut butter and bacon sandwich on toast. (NOT grilled in butter.)

Good afternoon,

Just home for lunch before taking LC to his dentist appt. I had mine this morning, and I developed a toothache yesterday, but my teeth are fine, the dentist said it is being caused by my sinuses. I think my sinus infection is back, my head feels like it is going to pop. I must leave shortly to get the little guy, this will be fun trying to have him sit still for a check up.

Beautiful. What is that big white boxy thing on the left in the first pic?

With my handy chart that I printed at Star's suggestion, I know that -20 celcius is -4 F. That is cold!!!

I believe it was a map of the village. And, yes, it is/was a little chilly. But, I really enjoy this weather.

Montana to Taylor 34 seconds left. NOOOOOOO!

You could imagine how I felt after, "The Catch"! I actually had a Rubik's Cube in my hand that went across the room and broke. No, I don't have anger issues. Ha ha! It was a reaction when that happened and that toy just happened to be in my hand. I was a teenager at the time and never forgot it but had NO IDEA it would be a historical play that continues to haunt me to this very day! In fact, Wayne and I went out to breakfast last week and they were showing highlights to various games on TV and, oh yeah, they had to go and show that play!!! I grumbled and Wayne just died laughing!

(No one was injured during that frantic moment with the Rubik's Cube). I hated that Rubik's Cube anyway!

Right after I posted my comment about bacon the news had a story about a Donut Shop up the street from us called, Hypnotic Donuts and were showing their most popular donut that has a strip of bacon on top!
No, you don't need to be a math whiz to do crochet! Get that right out of your head! Most of the time you just follow the pattern. No math required.

But a calculator is helpful if you want to mess around OUTSIDE the pattern. Say you have a pattern for a large afghan that is based on a multiple of 4 stitches (i.e., evenly divisible by 4). You think it would make a great baby afghan instead. So to make it smaller, you would make the starting chain shorter, but it would still have to be a multiple of 4 stitches. So if the large afghan had a starting chain of 340, you could make a smaller one by starting with a chain of 280, or 200, or 240 ... any multiple of 4 would work.

I need to get to crocheting then!!! =)

We've had a heat wave over the last couple of hours here. We're up to 8 degree's!!! I'll try to send some of the warm air up your way.

Haha! Great, thanks made :)

I have long roots on my teeth so whenever I get sinus problems my teeth ache too.
Hope you get it cleared up quickly!
