Hi MMC!!!

How are you all? We here on Long Island are doing well. We had a lovely weekend, the sun was SHINING it was beautiful!!!

We started our hike at 7:30 in the morning on Saturday and my goodness the sights and sounds of the beautiful outdoors. I tell you as we walk the trail and take in the beautiful I can't help but think God is Great, even in the midst of winter there are so may amazing sights. The best is all the holy bushes, I love the way the forest always looks like Christmas because of it.

This weekend we are going on a seal hike to view the Harbor Seals that come down to the tip of Long Island to enjoy what they feel is balmy weather LOL!!! A few years ago we saw the babies rushing into the water, it was so awesome. They have a large Hawk population and bunny population. If you get up real early in the morning, I mean just as the sun is breaking over the ocean you may see the gray fox coming back from the nights hunt, it is truly hard to believe you are on Long Island!!!

Well, enough about me and my last few days, now time to check in with ya'll and see how you have been and what you have been doing...

Miss you guys...
LB

Your upcoming hike sounds wonderful ~ have fun!

Hello friends!!

Hope your Monday was nice!

We have been dealing w/ insurance issues...what a pain :(

Long story, but basically our health insurance agent talked me into going with a co. He represented, rather than Cobra, after resigning from Sletten. He said it would be easy to transfer to a WI plan after we got here. Come to find out, there are no WI plans for that company! Frustrating!! Especially When I have prescriptions to fill every month, and what not. And one of them I was supposed to go to the doctor for before he could refill it again, but I couldn't because of the lack of coverage here.

So, we've been applying since early Dec., but we keep getting the runaround from the co. We're most interested in, saying they'd put a rider on a minor issue that I have. In the meantime, another bill is due for the insurance we still have out of Nevada. $500...

So disappointed in the agent we have in NV. Someone we thought we could trust.

According to a friend of my sisters who is an agent here, she said if I can make it through 2013 without coverage on this issue, that in 2014 insurance companies will not be able to put riders On pre-existing conditions...hmmm, what to do...

It's brutally cold here. I took Harlowe for a very short walk, and it was -1 outside. Couldn't feel my fingers & toes after 5 min. We are expecting snow throughout the week. Hope it warms up soon!

Thinking of you guys!!

Have a great night!

I pray things work out for you. It is brutally cold here, too. Stay warm!

Hark, Do my ears and eyes deceive me? Snow, real and actual snow that will fall from the sky and lay on the ground without melting in 2.3 seconds.... I'm in shock, It's been so long I forgot what it looked like; lol
Here this is from Foots forecast....

Winter Stormcast | Mid-Atlantic

11:00 AM 1/22/13 | Snowcover For Most Of The Mid-Atlantic?

Jack Frost has arrived bringing with him a rush of Arctic air to the mid-Atlantic, but aren’t you wondering if it is so cold, will it snow? Well the answer is, yes, at least for most of you. A snowstorm should move through the mid-Atlantic on Friday bringing moderate snow across much of the mid-Atlantic region.

TIMING:
Precipitation will move into West Virginia, wester...n Maryland, and western Pennsylvania early Friday morning. It will push east through the day, arriving to all areas by sundown. The snow will continue through Friday, possibly heavy at times Friday afternoon and evening. It should begin to taper off in West Virginia, western PA, and western MD around midnight Friday night. Areas further east will see snow end between midnight and sunrise Saturday morning.

Precipitation TYPE:
Most of the mid-Atlantic is expected to see mainly snow, but some southern areas such as MD, southern Pennsylvania, DE, and southern NJ could see some mixing with sleet and freezing rain at times. This will make travel difficult as many of these areas will see the wintry mix change over to plain snow leaving a hidden layer of ice below the snow.

IMPACTS:
This system will be a high impact event and affect a large area with many metropolitan cities possibly being affected including Pittsburgh, Baltimore, Washington D.C., Philadelphia, Newark, and New York City. Road conditions will deteriorate through the day Friday leading to difficult travel Friday evening. Many areas of Pennsylvania, New York, and central New Jersey could see temperatures well below 32 degrees so as the snow melts due to the sun, the roads will quickly refreeze leading to icy roadways. Travel will be improving by Saturday morning, but with the reinforcing shot of cold air for the weekend, black ice could be an issue in many areas. Our models show total accumulations from this system of 2-4” across the mid-Atlantic. There is still some variation in the models so there could be some changes with that. Some areas including DE, NJ, and eastern MD could see some additional snowfall on top of that depending on how quickly the storm redevelops when it gets to the coast. Other areas of Pennsylvania and New York could see higher totals because temperatures could possibly be in the teens, leading to higher than normal snow to liquid ratios.
it will make everything look really pretty! It will also stop traffic with all this beauty so make sure you have lots of hot chocolate!

I hope everyone is having a GREAT DAY!!!!!!!!!!!!

Good afternoon!
It's another cold cold day in Norway.
Almost -20c today (-4f)
Its ICE inside our window in the hall and in our bedroom....
(we live in a old cold house, and are hoping to buy another one this spring/summer)

My FIL is still with us. Barely..
He is in hospital, and today they are moving him to palliative care..
Where he will spend the rest of his life...
Thomas is there when ever he can, and they take him home almost every day.
And bring him back to the hospital in the evening..
But they have to watch over him every minute, and my MIL is so tired, sad and helpless...
My FIL is only 65 years old. He was so full of LIFE, always with a smile on his face..
It's so hard to belive this is hapening!
There is not much left of my FIL. He needs a miracle and he needs it NOW!
So please keep him in your prayers... ♥ Thank you

My prayers are with all of you, Solice ~ take care, my friend!

Good evening, Christmas family !

A brisk and cold day today - just the way January is supposed to be !! Sat in front of the fire tonight for a while with Wish in my arms. I was telling him how much I love him and petting his little face. He seems to be holding his own so far. We got the latest set of blood work back and it is mixed I guess you could say as far as news. The BUN rose to 130, not good. However, the creatinine dropped from 3.4 to 2.4. High normal is 1.86 so not that far off !!

I asked if the BUN being that high would make him sick and the vet told me that usually they ARE really sick when it becomes that elevated. Then he asked me how Wish was acting. I told him Wish is acting his old self !! He DOES NOT act sick AT ALL !!! The vet told me that is really odd but that maybe Wish just didn't read the rules !!

Wish has a WONDERFUL appetite and truly is his old self. His breath has even gotten better - not to be too terribly graphic but his breath was very uroseptic smelling and now it is MUCH better.

The doc also told me the prognosis is likely to be less than six months. If it is, at least I know we both pitched in so that he could have a QUALITY life even in the end. And If the vet is WRONG about the six months and he somehow has longer, I will of course have more time to love him. xo We will just have to see.

Things have been quite rocky around here lately. I won't go into detail here. But I could certainly use a Fortress of Solitude like Superman has to go to...............Wishful thinking, I guess. I just should not have put myself in such a situation.

I am falling asleep as I type so I will say goodnight. xo I hope all have a very, very magical and Christmassy evening.

(((HUGS))) to all ESPECIALLY TO:
Ella, Harlowe, Snowball, Gomez, Ophelia, Sidney, Alex, Merlin, Snickers, Victor, Daisy, Diva, Mickey, Palmer, Mouse, Bo, Chico, Meca, Alvin, Charlie, Gary, Bailey, Jerrold, Irving, Martha, Uncle Julio, Missy, Scooby, Sasha, Jacob, Cracker, Bunny B, Penny, Pocket, LuLu, Bear-Bear, Stripey, Holly, Fate Puppy (London,) Buster, Missy, Baby, Santa's Polar Bears, Sangria, O'Malley, Beau, Taz, Zema, Rizzo, Bella, Happy, Sam, Guinness, Holly Noel, Larry SR, Mama, and all furkids everywhere xoxoo

I'm glad Wish is acting like his old self! Hope today has been a far better day for you, CM3 ~ {{{HUGS}}}

I did it! I did it! I'm just using scrap yarn for now, but I'll hang onto the sample to refer to when I actually make the afghan in the future. I had one too many ripples before "turning back" at the center. The rest of the pattern is incredibly complex to follow. "Sc in unused lp at base of 3rd dc of next cluster ..." Doesn't make much sense until you figure out she just wants you to sc in the bottom point of a ripple, for instance. If you look at what you're working on, you can kinda see where the designer wants you to go. Wish me luck. If I ever succeed in making this for real, it should be a stunner. Holy cow. I dunno what she was drinking when she devised this pattern.

Good afternoon, snowflake! Yes, we are staying warm here (finally!) I hope you guys are, too! {{{HUGS}}} for all of you!

On my way to the doctor to get two prescriptions. Then back to school for this afternoon. I went to bed about 6:40 last night, woke up when Hubby got home at 10:30 and then back to sleep almost immediately. Still a little tired this morning. TTTL

I pray your energy comes back, Seawaters!

Good afternoon from the frigid mid-west, MMC!

What a time the past few days have been. Late Saturday the power went out and it did not get restored until late Monday afternoon. By then the temperature was down to 37 in the house. I was so worried about Mouse ~ she hates the cold as she feels the pain in her paw so much more. I kept covering her up with polar fleece blankets. We had candles lit, but they did not throw much heat. When the power was finally restored, the furnace did not go off for hours. Mouse loved it ~ she lays right in front of the register and sleeps. Early Tuesday morning, I woke up feeling cold again ~ yep, the furnace had gone out. Made an emergency call to the shop that installed it and about a half hour later, a repairman showed up. Turns out he is our neighbor who lives a quarter mile down the road. I was so fed up with all the trouble that furnace has been giving us I was ready to buy a new one ~ not that I can really afford one now, but it seemed like it was essential. My neighbor said that the furnace we have is an excellent one, the shop carries all the parts to fix it and so there is no need to replace it. Turns out it was only an igniter that needed to be replaced and the charge is going to be under 100, 65 of which is the service call. As I type this, the temperature is a balmy 64 in here, Mouse is still sleeping in front of the register and Palmer is in a time-out. Yes, things are finally back to normal. :???:All the outdoor fur kids are fine ~ the cats were playing when the sun was out, but have since gone to bed. Shaggy is still out ~ he loves the cold.

I was supposed to be out in BC today, buying pet food and looking for stock, but that town gets way too cold as it is so near the lake. I am going to brave it tomorrow ~ it is supposed to be a few degrees warmer and if I move real quick, I should get a lot done and stay warm.

Work beckons. I hope everyone is havina a MERRY day and is staying warm!

Happy Pines Day!!!!

If the gathering is still on Facebook, that leaves me out.
Yes it is. I wish you could just get an account and ONLY add Greasy Skillet to join us. I have my settings so secure that if you try to search my name and location, I cannot be found. But I know what you mean, sometimes they go and change things and mess it all up. I know I can be found on other people's friends list but everything is private so they cannot see photos or any other info about me until they add me as a friend. I really don't put too much on there anyway or add too many photos.

Thanks, Meteorologist Xmastidings for the weather report!!! :snowball:

Meceka, sorry for all the problems you have been going through!!!

I went thrift store shopping with my dad today. He told me he hasn't been thrift store shopping since his brother died back in April. They use to go together several times a month. I was glad to join him today! He seemed to really enjoy it.

While there I bought 2 bags of Easter Tree ornaments for 50 cents each. They are miniature wooden ornaments and really cute. That means I get to drag my table top tree out and decorate it! I might get it out sooner and put red and white lights on it for Valentines Day.

Sorry for the long winded weather report, he-he.... I sort of got a little excited about our first potential chance for any snowfall this year....I just couldn't believe what I was seeing~
