That sounds like a beautiful place to be, MC. You were sure lucky!

I'm very lucky to have some photos---and lots of memories, of course. The place looks so different now. Neither property is in the family anymore. My childhood home is now an insurance office. But a painting my dad did of a Amish carriage and horse is still on the garage door in the back (it's a carriage-house-style garage with sliding doors). I have a photo of that, too. The funny thing is he drafted it from a photo that was too dark to see the faces of the two Amish men inside. So he borrowed a book of old-time radio personalities to model the faces. The stout one is modeled on Grantland Rice, and the smaller one on Eddie Cantor---both with Amish beards and hats, of course!

Sometime I must scan the photo of the giant Bible he built, open to the Christmas story. I'd like to post that.

Good evening,

I keep thinking today is Tuesday, but it isn't, I am all thrown off by having today off. I must get up early enough. Hope you all had a great day.

Good night everyone.

Wow, that IS etched in your brain! Those are the lyrics, all right!
The voice of good ol' boy Phil Harris as O'Malley!
Darnit, now I'm going to have to drag out the LP and listen to it again! Maybe I should digitize it while I'm at it so I can have MP3s.
The LP actually has other Disney cat songs on it, too. A while back I found an MP3 of one of them---Louis Prima singing "That Darn Cat."

Yes....me too as well! I think I'll break out the movie tomorrow and indulge in my inner child...I wish that you and your husband and us were neighbors, because at least speaking for myself, we would get along so perfectly well with so many of the same interests....I love it, listening to the old soundtracks of the Disney movies, that they make me so happy and besides, if anyone would take the time to really listen to the music, hear the words with their heart, it is some really good music.

I have this LP, too. cheesy

No kidding! Wow! Is yours as well-worn as mine? When I first got it when I was little, I used to play it three or four times a day!

Rain....rain for the next four days.

Coffee....coffee for the next four days.

I'll take that trade.

Snowflake, all that picture from this morning needed was some lights and a tree....beautiful.

I agree, ballcoach. =)

Can't wait until the Christmas season!!

I am trying to resist the urge to decorate!!

You wouldn't happen to have the soundtrack album from "Song of the South," would you? I'm really disappointed that I didn't hang onto that one---the choral stuff (I believe it was the Ken Darby Singers) was so beautifully done. I still have "Pinocchio," "Snow White," "Sleeping Beauty," and a couple of compilation CDs. Disney did some really wonderful music. "Bella Notte" still gets me every time, and "When You Wish Upon a Star." "Baby Mine" from "Dumbo" always chokes me up.

No, I don't have that one, but I do have quite a few. I have about 2-3,000 lps down in the basement and even some original Beach Boys, Beatles, sound tracks and a lot of compilations. I have musicals, country and western, rock, pop, soundtracks, oldies and some disco.... I still play them too boot!

You know something, some of my recent favorite soundtracks are from the Disney Tarzan, Brother Bear, Tangled, Shrek, Cars, etc... Oh I could go on and on....

I see a lot people here like Ice Hockey, I recently watched the movie "Miracle", about the 1980 US Olympic Ice skating starring Kurt Russell, Oh man, I love that movie. Has anyone else watched that movie?

I have never been into to Ice Hockey before, but recently, I started to watch it, and I like it... I don't fully understand it yet, but I do like it... I think that sport may have a new fan~

Well kick back and enjoy the Kentucky Derby and Talladega then!!!!!!!

I went to visit one of the houses where we used to live. I took pictures all around. I am glad I did because we went back in 2008 and it was all torn down and new homes built. I would love to see the Amish carriage and horse and the giant Bible.

Time to get ready for bed. The fire south of us is still burning so it's somewhat smoky here. Have a great evening, everyone.

It would be so fun to see his face! You could just tell him you thought it was Christmas! Then tell him that made double-dog dared you!

Double? I'm jumping straight to a Triple Dog Dare!!!!!!!

DO IT!!!!!!!!!!!!

Just to see the look on your hubbies face when he comes home!!!

Hahaha!! He'd faint!!!
